Recently I got a amiibo villager to move in, and apparently He will not move into the the empty space i made for him. there's two other free places that the villager can move in, that id rather him not be in. The placing is like this:
◇PXXXP
◇XXXXT
◇PXXXP
◇XPXPP
P= Path
X=Empty Place
◇=River
Every letter is one placeholder.

If you guys could give me any tips or tricks that would be great!

One thing to note; it'll need to be two away from other villagers, and one away from any edge.
If that's not the case you may just be unlucky with their plotting.

Maybe just fill in the entire house plot, leaving no blank border?

PPPPP
PXXXP
PXXXP
PXXXP
PPXPP
GGPGG

The G is grass.

Does the river have a bridge in that area? If yes, the game gets really weird about villager house placing. I would move everything to the right one more spot and then try again.

Do you have a screenshot of where you want the new villager to go? :)

Sometimes it works out if you just leave one possible plot area. Turn off the the game. Turn it back on. And try again with plot re-setting.

What you may need to do is check out nearby areas for possible obstruction.

Try again.

If it doesn’t work, you may need to give in with a backup location.

I would suggest time travelling to before 6am that day and placing patterns to block off the other open spots that you mentioned. Then time travel earlier to after 6am that day when the plot will appear. If the plot still doesn't move into your desired spot (let's say the game forces the plot over a pattern-covered area or into another open spot you didn't know about) then it's most likely that area you want him to move into will not work. Last night I spent some time plot resetting some amiibo villagers in and found it way easier to travel back in time and block off areas where the villager kept plotting rather than shuffle through the RNG over a few open spots. Eventually it forced the villager into the only spot available (which happened to be where the villager last moved out) The game will make the villager plot OVER patterns if the only spot open will not actually work.
