Villager Move In Question

So yesterday I purchased two plots of land and placed them. Then I went to an island and found Pinky and invited her to move into Plot #9. She's unpacking today. I had figured that there would be someone at my campsite now that there's only one empty house plot. No one was there so I assumed that a random villager had purchased Plot #10. It's still unsold. I'm guessing no one can move in or come to the campsite until Pinky's unpacked.

Sooooooooo if I don't go to an island tonight will a random villager buy the plot of land tomorrow or will I find someone at my campsite for the chance to invite them?
