Al moved into my town a few weeks ago, and if you don't know already, he looks super creepy, plus he moved into a really annoying spot. I watched a guide on youtube that suggest speaking to them once (on the day they move in), then ignoring them for two weeks, and they should move out by themselves.
Except this hasn't happened.

It's been nearly a month now, and other villagers keep approaching me to move out of my town, but Al never leaves. What do I do? Can all I do is wait it out, and hope he eventually moves? I've had another friend ignoring villagers she wanted to leave, but they haven't left, even after 3 or 4 months.

Why is it so hard to get villagers to move that you don't want in your town? Is there something else PROVEN I should try?

---

For those that might ask, this is the guide I am referring to. The only step I have not done is making a second villager, because I have no room in my town as it is for another villager house.

Was he the last to move in?
He won't leave if he's the last to move in your town.
Also, I find that befriending them works better than ignoring.
It worked for Pango eventually, just got her out yesterday.

I found the ignoring trick did work for me within one week, however, if it's been so long you may be better off trying to befriend them and cycle them out in the normal manner. Send them a few letters, talk to them, do a couple favours and eventually they will ping you.

Edit: Villagers CAN move out if they were the last to move in, it's just much less likely. It's been speculated that you need a different villager to ping you before the newest move-in can.

Ugh, really? Someone else has to go first? That really sucks.

I find the friending works better too, I talk to them constantly, do everything they ask, send letters with gifts, basically stalk them till they flee town to get away from me.

Well according to bellazef it can happen, but I know that was my problem with Pango...
She stayed forever and I finally got her to move out only when someone else left and a newer villager arrived...

just keep trying!
tried to get rid of filbert.. who just moved in, then a few days later (i tt'ed) then he pinged to move!
and yes he was my last villager to move in c:

I had one who moved in once and pinged to move two days later - first moving ping I had. So yes it's possible to get the last one out and theoretically you don't even have to wait for someone else to ask. On the other hand it's possible you're just getting unlucky over and over. I had Merry in my town from September to April realtime and she didn't ping to leave ONCE in all that time. She was definitely at max friendship because I had five of her pics by the time she finally got her butt out!

If you want him out you just have to keep trying. It's random. :(

Talking until they get angry acutually worked for my daughter and Pancetti. She had followed her from her first town and plunked her house right in front of town hall. Befriending her didn't work. We tried the ignoring trick with a second character.. no go, and then someone suggested this. My daughter talked her ear off, would wait until she got angry, go away, and then when she had calmed down would repeat. Took only two days. (I am going to miss her though - my daughter was so disgusted that Pancetti moved with her that during the befriending trial she made Pancetti greeting "Call me Bacon".LOL)

Create a new human character in your game of "Animal Crossing:New Leaf."

Have that new human character meet all villagers, including Al. Then have that new human character build a house. And use a one-week game-time period for that human character to talk with all villagers except for Al.

This may be a help. I noticed that when I did this in my original town of Applewin, it worked in getting Clyde to ping my Mayor Jill. It later helped to getting Simon to do the same.

I don't know if there is a foolproof method. But a YouTube video I saw showed that the villagers with a highly established friend status, with your town's Mayor, are programmed to be the random pings for moving. Not that that is always the case. But that the ones who aren't as highly established have a mechanism to motivate building on friendship with one's town's Mayor.

The creation of the new human character is what works for plot resetting. So, it stands to reason the creation of the new human character can for more than one purpose.
