Villager doesn't remember me?

I was at someone's island browsing DIYS the other day and I came upon Muffy, a former resident of mine (probably was here for about 4 days). I've seen numerous videos online of people visiting former residents and their residents remembering them so I excitedly went to talk to her but she simply introduced herself to me and told me she thought we could be good friends. No signs of remembrance - at all. I know she wasn't here long but I talked to her frequently while she lived on my island. In the videos I've seen, the villagers have said something along the lines of "Oh hey ___! I live here now, feel free to visit anytime!"

It has to be the same instance of Muffy. Not a random one.

It is Muffy, but it isn't YOUR Muffy. So because of that, she acts like a completely 'new' villager.
