~VidTown: An adoption tale~

Good day TBT friends (or night if it's late where you are)

Today is a happy day, as I just became an adoptive Mayor to a new town! It was an idea I had in my head for quite some time and today it became a reality!

Basically, I found a pre-owned copy of ACNL in a local trade in shop and snapped it up for a bargain price! I mean, I already have 4 towns, but it always makes me a little sad to see that someone didn't want their town any more

So I intend to adopt it. Not to reset, but to play as the previous Major in the previous Town and make it thrive It is a concept I am pretty sure I heard of on TBT and is by no means an original idea of mine, but it is one I have been thinking of for a long time and can't wait to get started!

I won't be time travelling and intend to play the town daily I might plot reset, but other than that I want to run the town "properly", to see how the town grows and progresses naturally

I'm thinking I will post screenshots so I can keep track of the progress... a town journal if you like? I might set up a Tumblr or something for it... but for now I'll update on this thread

So here we go, a brand new adventure... so exciting!






First thing I learn is that the Mayor is called Astro and the town is called VidTown.
Very far removed from the towns I have named myself, but that is all part of the fun!




Then this happened! What are the chances of this happening (probably 1 in 365, but still...) Happy Birthday Astro!




So this is Astro (and Del) and the town flag, the Town Map (very nice indeed!) and the current town tune





A message from the previous Mayor, which is over a year old! Also, after speaking with Muffy, it confirmed that VidTown had not been visited in over a year! I added my own town message and a list of the current residents!

I've always wanted to do this! I recently bought a used copy of the game to do just this, but when I started it up whatever town had been there was already gone.

Not a bad map you've got there, and the villagers are nice too! Good luck with this town!

So onwards with the update! I have had mega amounts of fun playing in VidTown today and have found out the following things:

* There are no permanent PWP's placed yet.*
* Astro has gained town approval, but there are no PWP's and no ordinance*
* There were only 2 things in the museum, an apato tail and a sea bass*
* VidTown main street currently has T&T Mart, Leif's shop and Club LOL, but no dream suite, Shampoodles, Katrina's or Kicks.*
* The town fruit is the Pear, but there is no perfect pear. I am assuming it was eaten.*
* Astro has access to the island, but not to CT*

This is a really cool thing to do! I purchased my 2nd copy of the game used as well. I looked at the town before I wiped it, but it never occurred to me to adopt it... Very neat I look forward to watching your town flourish!

I have had a blast this evening, have been over to the island and caught some bugs, added quite a bit to the museum already and made enough bells to pay off a second bridge! Also managed to run some scavenger hunts on the island to buy 5 silver axes, which isn't too bad for day 1!

Thanks again for the support I absolutely plan on updating a DA as soon as possible! It would be fantastic if people could visit in person and actually see the changes! I think I'll have to make the Dream Suite a priority PWP and get this set up asap!

It's been a pretty quiet morning in VidTown. Caught some fish and bugs for the museum, pulled weeds and celebrated new bridge



Also, I am looking for a new town flag for VidTown. I would love to hear your suggestions, or links to flag patterns please! I am thinking that Vidtown might be kind of futuristic and space-y, so maybe something along those lines?

Hi everyone

Pretty quiet day today in Vidtown... I am really enjoying playing it though Thank you for all the kind offers of help, but at the moment I just want to nuture the town and try to achieve as much as possible in the natural course of the game

Today, Astro put all of the flowers on the beach by type (there were only about 15-20 flowers in the entire town!) He also enjoyed the thunderstorm this morning and a little trip to the island this evening. The dream suite is underway, just a case of raising the funds to pay for it now

I did something similar with a game save that was on a cartridge I bought last year for cycling purposes.I was going to delete the town after my cycling was done but I decided to try to finish what the previous owner had started.They were going for a Halloween theme(the town is called Halow'een) so I've been fiddling with that off and on for the past few months or so.I fixed up the mayor's appearance and brought in some new villagers.It's coming along slowly but surely.By coincidence,Halow'een also had Mott as an original villager.I took a liking to him and moved him to one of my other towns.Good luck with VidTown!

Ahhh! I think I vaguely remember this! It's such a fab idea, isn't it? I'm really enjoying it so far!
