So I just bought another copy of AC:NL, this one's the digital version. I mainly got it because although I really love my town on my other game, I think I can do a bit better in town planning now. Besides that, I just really like AC and having two towns seems like a good idea to not get bored.

But, are there any ways to use my second town to help my first town? I only have one DS, so I don't think I can really make them interact. But I've seen a lot of people have two, so I figured there must be some way the second town is used for the first?

buy another 3DS and then you can use it to cheese dumb badges

alternatively, cycle town or just to have another town to do things or have villagers you'd like but don't want to change your first town around for it

those were two separate ideas, but yeah if you wanted to cycle for yourself to get villagers you'd want faster than you'd need a second system

You need a second 2DS or 3DS in order to go between towns. I love having two towns and two consoles. I go back and forth for Katie drop-offs, event prizes, shopping and petitions. I can transfer Bells between characters. It's nice not have to look for a stranger whenever I need something.

You kind of would need another DS if you want to transfer anything between the two towns. But once you do, you can have one beautiful town, and one bell boom town with different native fruits, and make a ton of bells selling fruit between the two towns, especially once you get a lot of perfect fruit (I make a little over a million bells per trip selling my fruit this way). You can also farm gold roses (bring your black roses to the non beautiful town, let them wilt, water them with a gold can and they'll be gold the next day. Time traveling makes it go a lot faster) and get the weeding badge more easily.

Having several characters all accruing interest in the post office is also nice :3

I was thinking about getting a second copy to mess around in town editors with, because I'm a bit too nervous now to edit my original town because the last villager's new house I had to place down with the editor because it never appeared; the coding for it was there and Isabelle kept mentioning it, but instead of the house I got an extra Windmill in an odd spot. So now I'm loathe to even mess with anything at this point re: hacking and I'd rather have an extra town to truly fiddle around with without being too scared of game breaking glitches.

I had a second town a while back for cycling on TBT and for general trading... I sold it but recently bought a new cart... it's nice to have a spare town to invite people to and not worry about them ruining your original town!

I had not thought about the Bell Boom/gold roses thing, as I usually have beautiful town... I will definitely be doing that from now on! :D

But as for the o/p, I would definitely recommend trying to locate a spare 2DS/3DS (possibly preowned?) as it adds a brilliant new dimension to the game!

I have 3 copies actually..... And only one 3ds, I can't justify buying another one! I like finding strangers to help me! I use two for my towns and the digital copy is my cycling town. I have no issue finding trustworthy people, but I feel guilty using another person to transfer my millions of bells or items lol! The bells and TBT I generate from the cycling town is more than enough to pay for my two towns.... And I will turn that into another town once I have a load of bells

I have 3 copies; My original is a mostly a trade/commerce town where I keep a large amount of items, grow hybrids, and keep money to transfer to new towns or sell. My second town serves as a cycle town where I can sell villagers when I'm low on tbt or igb or provide villagers for my other towns. My third is my "dream town", basically the one I develop to show for dreams. All done between my original red ds and pink ds xl.

The benefits of having multiple towns can be great: easier access to certain items/buildings (I take my new mayor to Shampoodles, Kicks, and Club LOL a lot), unlimited foreign perfect fruit providing you have different fruits between towns, access to more villagers, extra storage space, and more! :)

I'm a hoarder and obviously I need an extra town for storage space. The whole town is my storage!!!

Plus I'm planning to do some cycling to get extra TBT C:

Huh, I hadn't even thought far enough ahead to think of transferring bells :o hmmm, I'll have to ask my friend who has one to come visit and help me out sometimes. Unfortunately she's super busy with school so that won't be very often.

Oh, and I visited Riften, I love it! Definitely good inspiration for planning my town :)
