Will villagers trade you mushrooms in exchange for ingredients? I need a round mushroom for my main course but I have no more left!

Yep, villagers provide all the ingredients you need if you keep giving them fish.

Villagers will give you mushrooms for ingredients. I traded Genji I believe a fish and he gave me a round mushroom in return which is what I needed. I did the exact same thing though, I wasn't expecting Franklin to ask for a mushroom so I sold it thinking that I didn't need it.
