For the past week now I've really wanted to reset my town, even though I do really like it. I'm just bored really.

I've managed to get most of my dream villagers, I've sorted out my house, the town is only lacking 2 pwps I haven't got yet and the idea of re-starting with my little tent and an empty town is pulling at me. Also, yesterday I looked at my house placement and it's one place off central! I know it's a little thing, but now that I've noticed, it's really bugging me, I can't decorate around my house because it wouldn't be symmetrical and that just irritates me.

I know I would miss it if I did reset but it's so tempting :/

Here you can see my house is off-center, it's really noticeable now

You could always buy a second copy of the game. I would suggest that you think about it some more before you decide on anything. Like, make sure you're 100% positive that you want to reset before you do.

sit at the town tree
trust me

sit at the town tree
trust me

I tried that ]:

Maybe I just need to completely re-do my town, make it fresh again. Or rip out all the paths and make it an empty town again, or like a forest for winter...

I'm going to post my town map in the original post to show the point about my house

I've had this feeling before so I know how you feel. I personally didn't give in. If you don't want to restart, you can try to think of the reasons why you love your town. You can try to make new challenges for yourself too. Redecorate your house or even your town, try to collect all the badges, complete the museum exhibits, finish your catalogue... there's a bunch of little things you can do to make your game more complete.

If you're worried that you might regret resetting, just wait for some time before making your decision. Maybe you'll change your mind about it.

If you think resetting will be more fun and that the game is a chore otherwise, do it! You can always ask people you trust to your villagers and items if there's something you want to carry over. I don't know if you can do this but if you can, you can keep your town and buy a second copy of the game.

How long did you feel like it for? :(

The one time i reset my town, I regretted it within the first week. I stopped playing for almost 4 months because I had no urge to play to gain everything back. Within those four months, I kept resetting almost weekly. But now, after the last reset and break, I'm enjoying it more than I did the first time (and I miss all of my villagers) You may just need a break from it. I suggest maybe waiting a bit and weighing out all of your options c:

Make a new character and start off brand-new as a new character, or do an RP sort of thing in your head, maybe the Mayor went missing, I know some people enjoy the RP thing.

I think a good trick to being happy with AC is learning to appreciate different aspects of design. There are more options than just symmetry and perfect centering. A house with your favourite tree to one side can be just as pleasing to look at as a house with trees on either side. Some would even say it's more cute and idyllic that way, it's all down to how you view it.

Try searching Google for examples of asymmetrical design and see if you get any ideas. Here's one I found:

I felt like this sometimes, but then I created a second character file, and it showed me show how much work I would have to do if I wanted to restart, badges, encyclopedias, house. It kind of gave me the perspective of what restarting looks like, and pushed me farther away from the thought of it. I dont think Ill ever restart lol

Thanks for that :) It's true that if my house was dead center, there wouldn't be room for my street light which is to the left of my house. There would be no room for it if the house was in the center

I get those feelings sporadically. The most recent one lasted for a few weeks. Before that I had a few months when I considered restarting from time to time. I think everyone feels that way sometimes, and if you feel like you're at a dead end, it's easier for that feeling to last longer.

For me, taking a break from my game helped. Changing some of what I was doing helped too. The last time, I was getting bored with my town's design and decided I wanted to change things, so I've been changing my paths and decorations and I'll be letting some villagers go for a change. :)

If you're not against TTing, you could also try to go to dates when there will be big events that will let you bond with your villagers and maybe even remember why you love your town so much. I don't know about you, but I really love events because they really make me appreciate the work I've done on my town.

I know how you're feeling. It was probably around about the start of summer this year that I had a sudden urge to reset as I just didn't know what else to do with my town. I disliked my town for quite a few months beforehand because of it & I was completely losing interest in the game which felt absolutely awful. My friend even said that it was completely up to me if I wanted to reset as she could hold all my items for me if needed so that I wouldn't lose anything.

I was almost about to do it when I just thought about demolishing everything in my town & starting from the beginning there. I realised after I done it that resetting definitely wouldn't have been the best thing for me to do. All my progress so far would have been erased & I just couldn't let that happen. Starting to landscape my town into another way that I really liked sparked my love of the game again & I've been into doing more to my town ever since.

Like some other people have said, you could try creating another character & starting with them again or you could change parts of your town in different ways to your liking. Things don't always have to be symmetrical to be pretty. (*^-^*)

I would still definitely think on it for a little bit before hastily going & resetting. I wouldn't even want to imagine regretting it after I reset.

Thanks :) I'm going to try and re-landscape my town but I have no idea where to start, I'm really no good at it :(

Wait for your next villager's birthday. Hang out at their house. Wait for them to start whistling the town tune. Gets me every time.

I took apart half my town - moved all the flowers and chapped all the trees - because I was desperate to catch a scorpion and a tarantula. Best thing that ever happened to my town, because it really gave me a completely different perspective. Still, I'm glad I only did half the town to start!
