How are people getting such good turnip prices? Is it just my nooklingtons that are offering stupidly low prices?

it was 55 bells a couple days ago, yesterday was 22 bells.
Not checked yet today but I expect they’ll be asking me to pay them bells to take my turnips at this point.

then I see people with 500+ turnip prices. HOW.

It's all about luck~ Also keep in mind that prices change once a day. You have a morning price and an afternoon price. There are really good websites you can use to track your prices (I personally use stalks.io). Those places can give you an estimate of what to expect your prices to do throughout the week.

Maybe all the good prices are in the morning, I almost always miss the morning times!
thank you for the website, I shall have a gander at it!

For me and my group of friends, tuesdays and wednesdays seem to be the days one of us will typically have a higher price

Me and my friend have complete opposite turnip spikes! I had a turnip price on Wednesday for 62, and he had a spike of 509. It’s insane, but I guess it’s all about luck. I usuaalky just go to other people’s towns to sell, so it’s not a big deal for me. Hopefully you will get a big spike soon!

Good luck. Plus some of us time travel for a variety of reasons :) And sometimes remember to check the turnip prices as we time travel xD

knowing my luck, it’s either the nook twins hate me OR the one or 2 days I don’t check are the days where it’s 600 or something.

I've never gotten a good price that I know of, haven't seen it at 200 or higher at all. But to be fair I kind of stopped checking after week 4 because I had already saved up 20 million bells by then while having paid of my house fully. Which I pulled off by visiting others with a price of 600 or more.

That’s what I was doing while trying to get a villager to move! The highest price I found while doing that was I think around 105!

Think I’m going to fully stock myself up on turnips this Sunday and then just wait... patiently... for someone with high prices. Because I don’t trust my own luck

It took me weeks (as irl weeks) of TT to eventually stumble upon good prices. I found 578, then 508, then 430 within a few in game weeks of each other. I think prices generally suck for a while or they’re really good for a while :) Keep trying! I keep checking Wednesday morning and afternoon and that seems to bring some results :)

I've only had I think one good price since the game was released... it really is all luck so I usually just trade online. good luck!

I have a feeling the morning prices are the good ones I’m missing! Honestly couldn’t believe my eyes when they said 22 bells. Hahaha

The prices are not exactly pure randomness. Here's a document that details how the patterns work. You need to check both morning and afternoon times everyday (especially at the beginning of the week) and log them and also keep track of the previous week's pattern. A website like Stalks.io or Turnip Prophet can help with that. Once you log one week's pattern, you'll have an idea of what to expect for the next week. For example, if you have a Large Spike, you likely won't get a Large Spike next week, so you might want to skip the next week. If you have a Decreasing pattern, you likely won't have another Decreasing pattern, so it's safer to buy. And so on and so forth.

The higher prices at a part of the Large Spike pattern, but the best price in that pattern has a very large range (200% to 600% increase). For that, it's up to luck (with some dependence on what price Daisy Mae was selling Turnips for).

hopefully I’m due a large spike then, thank you for this information everyone! I feel less unlucky now, I think I’ve just been missing good prices in the morning!

It's really hard to be able to do turnips on your own island well unless you're able to check both prices every day. Then you can track it more accurately.

That being said, getting crazy 500+ prices is going to be quite rare. I had a large spike pattern last week and 265 was my high. That's still a very good profit honestly, even if it isn't eye popping.

There are 4 patterns your turnip prices can follow: fluctuating, small spike, large spike, and decreasing. Your pattern from the previous week has an affect on your pattern for the current week.; also important is how much Daisy Mae charged on Sunday. You have to watch and track the prices twice daily, 8a and 12p, and input those into a turnip prophet type forecast machine to better understand which pattern you're experiencing, and when the best time to sell could/would be.

I've experienced two large spikes since release, one was 298, and the other - yesterday morning - was 580.

That's quite likely if you're not checking twice each day. The 'large spike' pattern only offers one chance to grab the high prices. I had 330 on Thursday afternoon then it sank back down to the mid-100s and only gets lower again from there.

both times I got an amazing price (somewhere in the 500s, I think 597 most recently) were both in the morning. they then plummeted to roughly 100 in the afternoon which sucks because that leaves no time to invite people in and I didn't have any turnips of my own lol.

but I would never do turnips without visiting other people online. I know it's essentially cheating but I don't think I'd make any profit from turnips at home because my prices are so abysmal usually. I think I've checked them every day both morning and afternoon and only had 2 good prices and a couple of middling prices.
