Unexpected Favourites?

I didn’t care about Flora before NH, but when I saw a plot with her name with it as my first 3 villagers I was surprised that she would be moving in. After she moved in I ended up liking her a lot now and somewhat became my favorite and she is really cute when she does stuff like running like an airplane/ninja. She also became one of my permanent villagers in my island as well.
Marshal! Found him on a rando island and was gonna sell/trade him but he's really cute so I kinda fell in love and now I talk to him every time I see him and can't imagine it any other way! I love his sweet little smile, bobby tail, and super blushy cheeks!
I think of two unexpected ones for now...
First Deirdre, I can't stop talking to her since day one, she's my first NH villager and will always be on my island.
And Kiki too since I didn't like Normal villagers before her, run into her on some mystery island and started being obsess by her eyes lol

That made me like Tabby a bit more, ty. Felicity make me think of Haru when she had turned into a cat from The Cats Returns. Lol
zucker! i’ve told this story so many times lmao but i invited him from an island tour for profit reasons - i knew a lot of people were searching for him and figured i’d invite him in and sell him off whenever, as i’d never been a huge fan of him. however, i quickly grew attached to him and he’s now a permanent resident on my island ;v;

Bluebear. She was my 4th resident on NH and I'd never had her before. She light up the stage with how much pep she had. She quickly started calling me her bestie and mailing me letters. She was fast friends with my other favorite at the time, Pashmina.
I loved her because she never failed to make me smile. She was always so kind and Pashmina and Bluebear would be together constantly. It was soo cute.
I sobbed like a baby when I let her leave. I'm not sure I'll ever like Wendy the way I loved Blue.

I would say Alice. I was never such a huge fan of the koala villagers, mainly because of their design. However, when I saw Alice one day on a Mystery Island, there was something about her that I liked, so I thought why not giving her a chance. I invited her to my island and ever since then she became one of my favorites. She's actually such a cutie, kinda regret now that I ignored her back then in the previous games.

Ruby! I never cared for her before New Horizons, but she showed up on my island in her bunny t-shirt, eating a matching popsicle, and with her freckles and space themed bedroom.... and I just turned to mush!! I think I must have a soft spot for tomboyish seeming villagers, because that's the same feeling I get over Tangy. (Plus, I find "plainer" looking villagers refreshing nowadays. I've gotten incredible luck with popular dreamies by chance, but finding a random villager you like is SO much fun!)
Also I don't think this counts so much because I was a child with no expectations, but Bones in Wild World was one of my starters and I cried and reset my game when he moved out. He was a starter again in New Leaf and he moved out during a rough patch in my life. A defining thing my mom knows about Animal Crossing is "isn't that the game your favorite friend moved out and you cried all day?" Honestly if I discovered him now that I'm older and recognize that lazy is a narrow set personality type, idk if I would have latched onto him the way I had. I love how this game really gives you bonds with whoever is in your town

Slightly confused
Curlos for sure. He was the first villager to visit the campsite and at first I was not super excited but then he looks so cute in sweaters that I give him and looks like a little fluff ball whenever he sits because you can’t see his legs very well with all his wool.

I love Hopper, even though his red eyes are kind of scary I think he is super cute lol.
I invited Sly to my island very early in the game because I thought he looked cool and unique (but unsure if I would keep him long term) and really grew to love him!! He is so cute and fun, especially since his hobby is playing there is a childlike quality to him that the other jocks I've had did not have.
I guess way back when New Leaf came out in 2013 or whenever an unexpected favorite of mine was Tom. It was my first animal crossing game and he was one of my starting villagers. I remember thinking he was kind of cute but funny because of his deep voice, but I grew to absolutely adore him over time. He started off as this weird old man but underneath his crankiness he was such a softy and we really became best friends. Thankfully I have him in NH too!
I also got Diva in NL after having a bad experience with Paula. I remember picking Diva because I thought she was cute and I'd try her out, and if I didn't like her I'd find someone else to be my town's Uchi. But I actually grew to love her a lot! The Uchi personality suits her perfectly and she always makes me laugh. I actually have her in NH too as my starting Uchi!! Super awesome how that randomly happened.

Egbert was a random move in and when I saw his name on the sold sign I was so upset. But I saw him do his Naruto runs and I instantly fell in love ^_^ he's one of my favourites now!
