Hi! I've finished the story mode in UM, completed my Alola Pokedex & now I'm trying to get all the Pokemon from Ultra Space. The problem I'm having is that steering through there over & over again is killing my hands. (I have carpal tunnel in both wrists & arthritis in both hands.)

I've tried using the motion controls but I can't stop myself from getting sucked into random Wormholes. Now I'm using the circle pad but I'm struggling to get past 3500 light years. I'm trying super hard to avoid the electric spheres but they're hard to miss sometimes especially in the turns. I try to get as many orange energy spheres as I can in the beginning but I still can't seem to get past 3500.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Are there tricks or tips to getting to 5000 light years? Are there certain ways to steer? I don't want to keep making my hands hurt but I also don't want to just give up either. I've tried googling answers but most guides just tell you about the Wormholes and which Pokemon are available. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

You can speed up by steering into the orange balls of energy and you can be stunned and slowed down by bumping into the blue balls of energy. However, if you're going too fast or too slow you can end up being dragged into the nearest wormhole, so it's best to figure out what the right speed to go at is, to try and get as far as possible.

Honestly, it's just practice. I wish I had tips on it but that's all I did... was practice. The turns used to be the worst for me until I began to learn how to deal with them, and a lot of dodges were just extremely lucky and clutch.

Practice makes perfect. Do it for like 30min-1h intervals at a time so you dont go insane but are still able to do it.

I'm having a problem maintaining a good speed because at some point there are few or no orange balls to grab. I figured I had to grab as many as possible while they were available.

Thank you for letting me know there really aren't any special tricks. I've been thinking I've been missing something or doing something wrong. I'm relieved to know it's just me that finds those turns tricky. I'll take your advice and try to limit my attempts and maybe work on collecting the QR Scan Pokemon as well. Thanks again!

Yeah, it's just luck at how many rings you can get and such. I guess if possible you can practice makes perfect play it a lot and learn to steer with the control stick (who tf invented gyro sensor movement needs to get fired). I don't like that mini- game much at all but eventually learned to just do it.
