Any tips on catching these? The IGN guide says they are at the pier but I never see any fish there. I've wasted so much bait but not a single one of them spawned.
I caught a tuna without using any bait. I was walking by when I saw a long fish shadow on the south side of the pier, not on the very end.
But anyway, I don't think it matters where the bait is used as long as it's next to the pier.
Also, one technique I use to find the fish I want is to scare all the fish away by running along the shoreline, so that when I get back, new fish has spawned. If the shadows are small, keep scaring the fish away, leave then return.
It's pure luck. I went to my pier, saw a shadow to the side so thought I'd catch it to clear the spot before throwing my bait in and it turned out to be the tuna!
Yeah just luck. I used the bait at the pier like 15 times and didn't catch anything good, but while fishing randomly I caught both a Blue Marlind and an Oarfish (not in a row )
as others have said, it all kind of comes down to luck. i caught the tuna by throwing fish bait directly in front of the pier but i caught the blue marlin by chance - good luck! :3
I caught a tuna without using any bait (closed to the pontoon) and I caught a marlin at the same place with a bait, I caught them at evening (past 6 PM). Good luck.
