Troubles catching fish

This is actually more of a citra thing since I'm trying to play at work LOL I saw a very old post saying to drop the frame limiter to 90-93% but I have no idea where what is on cirta qt? But anyways, I can't catch any fish because of the brief lag, anyone have any tips?
