Trouble growing Blue Roses

I've been using 2 blue roses to grow more but all I get are red roses. It says oj the guide that it is the best combination so like wtf??? Why are growing blue roses such a pain in the ass in this game? -____-

A lack of patience.

Seriously, they breed like weeds for me, and it's almost to the point where I'm getting a surplus of them.
Besides using the golden watering can and fertilizer, as Skweekerz does, try TT-ing. Water them and plant the fertilizer, then TT forward one day. Check to see if one spawns. While you're a day ahead, buy more fertilizer, and TT back to the day before. Rinse and repeat; usually if none spawn, keep trying. They will eventually. Once you have more though, plant them in a checkerboard pattern:

(x = blue rose; o = empty spot/buried fertilizer)

Making sure to water them all and plant some fertilizer, too. Usually, for me, I have 20 to 30 blue roses planted in a checkerboard pattern in an area, and if I water them everyday, I usually get 3 to 5 a day without using any fertilizer. It took like a few weeks though to get enough to have a large enough area, but once they're established and you breed a ton, they'll pop up like weeds.

I have been TTing but gave up New Leaf for a few months. Also, I breed hybrids VERTICALLY. Are you telling me they actually breed better diagonally? :|

I'm not sure if vertical/horizontal or diagonal breeding is the best, but I know having them planted diagonally works the best for me. It might be different for some people, and it might just be luck. If they still don't breed for you when planted vertically, try another arrangement. It doesn't hurt to try different arrangements when they aren't cooperating.

I placed the blue roses in a checkboard pattern and buried one fertilizer in random spots.
I didn't TT and got a new Blue Rose the next day. After about 17 blue roses they stopped spawning so I picked up three and put them in a different spot. The next day I got blue roses in both spots so I made two more patches of 3 blue roses. The next day one was in each patch.

There's a trader on here who gave me some with a trade. I actually dunno how to really breed flowers. I have too many lol
