Trouble finding bugs after the update?

OK, is anyone else having troubles finding certain bugs after the recent update? I've been looking all over for the giant water bug and I should of found one by now. How rare are they now? Does anyone know or has already found one or more recently? I really hope nothing is wrong with my game and that I'm not the only one finding troubles after this update 1.2...

Also, sorry for posting soo much.. I'm really frustrated...

Try to get to that spiral NMT island. You’ll find all the giant water bugs you can handle. I know because they mess up my tarantula spawns. I rarely see them on my own island. I never see them, actually.

This was hard for me to find before the update too. I finally found one in the mystery island. The span rate just seem better there

They nerfed some of the spawn rates for the more expensive bugs... I know for a fact peacock butterifies were cut because people noticed minutes after the update. Probably for water bugs too since they were worth a good 2000 a pop. The Nook Miles islands always had a good amount to hunt there.

I've tried the Nook Miles islands and nothing spawns there either... Even the spiral island had nothing... :/
