I answered "no". I don't think I would like it. Maybe I will once I start playing the 3.0 update but not being able to invite them to live on the island seems weird to me.

I love tourists! I was a little sad when I realized you can’t move them in, but I guess that makes sense because think about when you’re a tourist in real life…it would be kinda weird to be having the locals be like “move here move here move here” lol. (Yes I know it’s a game about talking animals but still😂). But I love seeing them walk around! It just makes my island feel more full because the islands are so big. And I like that they remember you if they visit again. And I had Daisy as a tourist and she had previously lived on my island and she remembered me🥲💜

I’m actually okay with this feature. While it doesn’t annoy me, I hardly cared for the animal interaction feature to be honest.

I'm actually surprised they didn't allow the hotel to allow guests to ask to move to your island. I know it would make the campsite obsolete, but I don't know the requirements to get the hotel so it could be a while before that point so the campsite would still be useful. Plus it would be 1 + 8 chances of you finding a villager you want. And again maybe they didn't like that since it would mean players would be less likely to spam NM tickets to find a villager they want.

Nintendo just needs to get with the times and make parts of their game feel like less of a hassle.

I LOVE THE TOURISTS! So far, I haven't seen any villagers I deeply despise or even not tolerate, for that matter. I've even had some dreamies visit! (Pietro has visited a total of 4 times lol). It's nice to see more than just the same 10 animals everyday, and some of the visitors are worth making a VIP room for! Just yesterday I made one for Punchy and today made one for Filbert! So fun to have the tourists walking around!

I do like it, it’s nice to see new faces around and reminds you of ALL those villagers I felt I had forgotten about

i don't really mind, although i wish i could toggle outfits. it feels weird to see tiffany walking around my island in anything but formalwear, i don't get why i can't just let them wear their regular outfits.

I absolutely love them! It's fun to change up their outfits occasionally (right now, they're set to Team Magma outfits) and I love that it makes my island feel much busier :)

I like them. It’s a good way to meet different personalities. (I know that sounds weird, but I don’t have any snooty villagers on my island.)

I designed a VIP fruit-themed hotel room for Clay and now he’s one of my favorites. 😭

Haha. I made a fruit room for Annalise the other day. Then yesterday Raymond was standing on the pier but I just sent him to a regular room. I also don't think it's super odd to not have a personality type on your island. I was without a Snooty (I have Diana now--she was at the campsite) for a short while but have been without a jock ever since I replaced Flip with Frita and that's been a while. I keep waiting for a good jock to show up at the campsite but so far haven't got one.

Some concerns have been mentioned about lag and the like. Maybe it's because I don't have a ton of decorations and such but I have a fully developed hotel plus ten villagers and have no lag. And even if the hotel is full (which it isn't always) with eight or nine guests they aren't all going to be outside at the same time.

I change up their outfits pretty often. If Gulliver washes up everyone gets dressed as sailors and has 'shore leave'. Today there's a conductor's convention in town. Sometimes I change out to just random clothes. It's a good way to put some of the stuff the villagers give me to good use seeing as how the dress-up accesses your entire catalog.

I like it but feel like they could have done more with it. Also, I restarted and was under the assumption you COULD invite them in, but was left with disappointment and hours into dreamie hunting with hundreds of NMTs again.

Anyways, I only have 4 rooms and I've been too afraid to make more for those new items because of, as the OP said, lag and not seeing any of your own villagers. They dropped another update fixing some things but can someone comfirm if this issue has been resolved? I have the Switch 2 version and I still see frae rate drops here and there. It's ridiculous how it STILL happens. Even Scarlet and Violet's like Night and Day and they're update was free.

I have my hotel finished and on any given day I'll see maybe four of them out at once along with the usual number of regular villagers, which are no harder than usual to see (I usually add hats and sunglasses to the hotel outfits so it's very obvious which are guests even from a distance). I'm just playing on my old Switch and I did see yesterday for the first time a little lag when the wind was blowing.
