I get that people play what they enjoy, and that's cool. Seriously.

But at the same time, I see the number of interesting, unique, creative games out there and then see a list like this.... and just 🤦‍♂️

Like why do people go for the same junk year after year? It's all just extreme microtransactions on top of a reskin of the previous year's game.

What do you think?

Huh that's surprising. How are Pokemon Legends ZA, Expedition 33, or Silksong not on there? Well most of those are games I would not want to play. The only series there I have played are Borderlands and Monster Hunter, and I'm not really interested in the latest entries, because it seems to me like if you played a couple of them you've basically seen them all.

I've not played any of them. Of them, I would play Monster Hunter: Wilds and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered. I loved Oblivion as a teenager.

My immediate impression though is that it is very skewed towards sports games that release annually. They have a dedicated audience but they're not for me.

Why? Just why? Well, I can understand why, since some of these games have a certain dedicated audience, but these just aren't the types of games that I would play. Don't people want to play something more interesting than sports simulators and FPS-shooters?

(Well I'm biased and exaggerating XD. Everyone can obviously play whatever they like.)

I am not surprised at all. It's like anything in entertainment. Big block buster movies are generally just... okay or entertaining at most. But people keep watching movie sequels about dinosaurs or fast cars, etc....

Video games are no different... People keep playing because they follow a brand and franchise.

I agree though that it is sad. There are so many creative games out there!

Better question: How is Mario Kart World not on the list? It sold nearly 10 million copies in four months which was probably increased even more because players bought the bundle. The game is the best selling of the series which is really saying something considering how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best selling Switch game ever.

The list doesn't surprise me, I know some people mentioned games like ZA, Mario Kart, and Silksong. But I don't think they can compete with the big sports and FPS games. I think those of us on TBT are far less exposed to those communities. The sports games net a ton of money for rehashing the same game over and over again, which is unfortunate but it is what it is.

The only one I think I could've seen but isn't there is Expedition 33.
