Too many oarfish!

Every time it rains I go fishing for the coelencanth and every time all I catch is oarfish. Is anyone else having this issue? I just want one coelencanth for the museum is that too much to ask? lol

It’s a rare spawn and it will take a while to catch, try crafting bait.

I thought oarfish were rare too and I just caught my 3rd one tonight

Oarfish are always more common than coelacanths, and its made far more obvious when you're looking for the specific fish. Crafting bait always helps! It takes a while but is always fruitful, don't give up hope!

Besides, there's no issue getting oarfish, they sell for 9000 bells each.

i tried bait before but ill try again. i caught 4 oarfish tonight. i did miss one big shadow cause my pole was broken and it disappeared befre i could make a new one
