Recently, I kind of started to lack the motivation to do much on my Island.
It started a few weeks ago. I still love the game a lot but I probably just play around 10-15 minutes each day now just to check the stores; don't even bother gifting my villagers anymore. I complete some dailies here and there but not always.
I miss yesterday's Fishing Tourney and feel kind of bummed out about it too.
I recently got Plucky through Island hopping and it actually made me happy because I really wanted to experience having her on my Island.
My official playtime is now around 510 hours.
Is anyone else feeling this way?
Should I just take a short break from the game for the time being and play something else for a while? Or should I continue.
There's still a lot I could be doing (for one, I hardly have any of the mermaid recipes and didn't catch too many of the sea creatures and I also know the I'm missing some July fish and bugs). Any tips welcome.

Don't beat yourself up :) I have the same thing happen to me with The Sims, i'll be playing obsessively for months then I feel like I've overplayed it and lost interest and take a break. Maybe that's what you need to do. Do what will make you happy 😊

If it starts to feel like a grind, I'd probably step away for a bit. There's no sense in further wearing down your passion for the sake of feeling obligated. I imagine the second wave of the Summer Update might pique your interest enough to come back, if only for a bit.

dont push yourself to keep playing or youll get overwhelmed or burnt out trying; if you feel unmotivated its best to take a break and do smth thatll entertain you more

Don't force it. Just play something else for a while.

Take a designated break from the game. Start with one week exactly. Don't even think about the game for 7 full days. And don't attempt to play until you have an hour or so to give to the game.

If you still feel unenthused then maybe try a month from the game. Or when you give the fame another try tell yourself you are no longer obligated to do any "chores". Leave your fossils where they lie. Don't worry about income and selling bugs and fish. Don't give presents and only interact with villagers when you feel the need.

Gift villagers only when you think of or find an item that would really look good on them or in their house.

At some point all of us will stop playing. Many will start again. Many won't. As others have said, you're probably just burnt out. We've all had days where even if we did play, we maybe didn't play the massive Corona-enabled hours we did at the outset. Come back to it when you want to. Or don't. Getting 500+ hours out of the game is still a heck of a return on your investment!

I guess I just wouldn't want to abandon the game altogether. I'm finally getting all the villagers I like and things seem to be going well. I was excited for the diving update. I guess to everyone who commented, it's normal to get bored of something you've been at for over 500 hours.
I might take a few days off and just see how I feel.

I have to have a goal/project to play alot. Otherwise, I just get on to do a few things and get off again. And that's okay. It's a game. If you need a break, take a break. It should be fun, not a chore. :)

If you want to get the "love" back, look for inspiration on reddit, instagram, twitter, etc. I can usually find something I want to adapt to my island.

I think that sounds like a good plan. I hope your joy for the game is re-sparked! 💥

It never hurts to take a break from things- even if you end up not playing until the next update, there's a good chance that'll spark interest again!

If you're really looking for inspiration RIGHT NOW, there's stuff you can still do. If you're liking your current villagers, maybe look at your town layout. Could there be things you could change there? Look at pictures online and see if you get inspired to try something new. Or look at your house interior and see what you can change. If you've never TTed before, that can help keep things interesting- you can play through more than one day per day, I know I wouldn't play nearly as much if I didn't TT (though I know it's not for everyone- just an idea!)

Also, a tiny thing that I've found fun once I have villagers I really like- heading over to Harv's Island and just doing a cute photoshoot. It won't keep me busy all day, but it can be found to play dress-up with some favorite neighbors ☺

Do take a break every once in a while! I did get a little burnt out playing this game at one point so I took a break by playing different games, especially a different genre to change up the pace a little bit. I'm not sure if this next tip would help you out but try not to set too many goals in a short period of time. If you do, you're only stressing yourself out to complete them at a rushed pace and not allowing yourself to soak in the relaxation of what the game has to offer.

I'm almost ready to quit it myself so I wouldn't know what to tell you.

I'm starting to loathe it. :(

This happened to me around June. I got sick of the wedding event and didn’t play after first week of June. I noticed I didn’t have any motivation at all to pick the game up anymore and decided one day that maybe I’m sick of my island. I love all my villagers and did so many things already but I wanted a new aesthetic and I thought it would take too much bells and time to do a complete island teardown and redesign. I ended up just having someone hold some stuff for me, resetting and catching up. It sparked my interest on the game again.

i’m in the same boat as you - i’m finding it really hard to feel motivated to play and haven’t really felt like picking up the game at all as i think i’m getting a bit burnt out. but just remember that you are in no obligation to play - you paid for it and it’s just a game, after all, so don’t push yourself to play just because you feel like you have to. it won’t be going anywhere and it’ll still be there whenever you feel like playing again ^_^

Take a break and play a game in another genre. Burnout due to quarantine overplay is pretty common right now.

Take a break and play something else in the meantime! That’s what I’m doing since I feel burnt out with 700 hours 😅 Maybe the next update will be interesting enough to draw you in.

have you tried diving? getting the mermaid series diy’s? that eats time 😭

but if you’re not feeling it, it should depend on you. don’t force yourself to play it.

definitely take a break if you need to. i've had to do the same recently as i'm at such a standstill with terraforming. i'm usually much happier to play again after i've taken a few days off :>
