You can just fill the rooms with random objects, but also try and consider using furniture that have matching colors or from the same set.

Have something hanging on the wall in every room of your house. Fill the main room with a complete furniture set if you have one (like full Cute, or full diner in the same color). If you have any villager pictures they give an extra +1k points. Clean up any DIYs on the ground if that's where you store them (which I'm superrrr guilty of lol). I believe having all of the necessities helps quite a lot too with the score (bed, wardrobe, etc)

Using the feng shi method, since it's in the game. Also they told me to use same color furniture. To boost your points even more (this is optional) is to get your villagers pictures and hang them in your room. These give big points, but this was how it was in new leaf and I'm not sure if it's still true for this game.

I think harder to get items help your score, too. I did the “house looks like a junk shop”, fengshui, and rarer items and it seemed to work.

it helps to decorate your rooms with in-season furniture. during the bunny day event, my brother got loads of points just for decorating his one-room house with bunny event furniture.

Matching furniture sets and color boost your score. I reccomend hanging up items on the wall, clothes can be put on walls as well. Feng shui is a good way to grab points, so i always have a plant in the front of the room to count for a green item!

definitely having a full set of furniture helps your score since they really like matching items. same for matching colors too and oh, don't drop any items on the floor because they haaaate that lol.
