Tips on Arranging Furniture?

I decided that I want to do something new with a room in my house and make it into a break room/arcade/room to just mess around and relax in. I have no idea why, but whenever I organize my rooms, I end up putting everything against the wall so that there's a huge space in the center. Any suggestions on how to keep the room balanced?
Also, what do you recommend that I put in it? c:

For a break/game room maybe have a flat screen tv in the middle of the room with some couches surrounding it? That way it isn't just a blank space.

I put things against the wall as well! I just do it out of habit for the most part, so I try to design my room in a way that looks best with everything symmetrical. I'm not good at remembering sets and furniture, so I can't help with that xD good luck! ​
