I lost Genji a few months back and recently got him again, it took all of 15 minutes to plot his house in the perfect place is set out for him. Also caught a Arrowana fairly easily, given how rare they can be

Well, I don't want to burst your bubble, but... I don't like either your maps. Why? Just because there's that piece of beach you cannot access

Now let me tell you, New Leaf was my first Animal Crossing ever, I didn't even know what it was about and got it simply because it looked cute. Starting the game, I accepted the first map Fran showed me in the train because I didn't know it could change. Lucky me it was a decent one! But later I met many players complaining about having unaccessible beaches, and can understand their frustrations.

You can access the hidden beaches if you have a wetsuit! I actually consider them a good quality in a town map

It took me at least five minutes to plot reset a villager into a decent spot once.

I got lucky once

he stayed in my town for a while, since I do like him. but eventually he talked about moving away, and I decided to let him for a change of pace. so he was given away in a raffle on 3/16 of last year

The one time I got super lucky in new leaf was thanks to my gf. I was collecting the fortune cookies items and I was missing the varia suit and fi mask. I had spend all of my game coins of that day so my gf used hers in my town ( I was time traveling using Isabelle's clock). And oh what a incredible surprise. In both cookies, she got the varia suit and fi mask! I just couldnt believed it, it was a happy moment.
