Smash Bros Tiers

all mine are in bottom 15 lol... Palutena, Game and Watch, duck hunt, Dedede, Samus.... this thing looks like a stock market too lol! Greninja is my highest, and barely cracks top half... I guess I have weird taste...

She only needs a better grab range and a bit more knock back, and she will be top 15 at least. I think we need to battle so I can show you. :p

Oh, I shoulda pointed out in my last post that with this game, there's always someone who can show you just how good a character is in this game, better than what most others perceive them to be. It's a pretty magical and neat thing with this game seeing a wide variety in opinions of character viability.
But yeah, I imagine WFT is better than I'm seeing. (though to be fair I've rarely run into WFT players online)

I think the same thing! and I mean I do some pretty neat stuff with my "low tiered" characters

Tier lists are important if you play competitively, but are next to meaningless if you just want to play online.

Tier lists are basically the order of threat level you have to prepare for. That's how I see it, at least. The higher tiers have the most potential to win tournaments full of excellent players, while the lower tiers generally have little-to-no potential. These are determined based upon analyzing a bunch of things, like damage, speed, hitboxes, knock back, survivability, lag, etc., so it's not like people are just like "I lost against a Diddy so he's S rank!" or anything like that--it's using math (sometimes even complex math), deep analysis, and discussion.

For example, a good Lucina will never be as good as a good Diddy, unless the good Lucina has a revolutionary playstyle that changes the name of the Lucina game forever (which is, honestly, not likely to happen without buffs).

That being said, I don't think tiers should determine what character you play as. If you want to be a good Lucina, you go right ahead and do that. That won't make you any less of a good player.

Hope that all made sense.

*Diddy Kong keeps pulling out and throwing bananas*

I'm going to have to disagree with this though. I hate the idea of a "best character". I think a good player can overcome tier lists with the right strategy in mind. Sure, people who are very good at using those characters are tough, but not invincible.

I hate the idea of a "best character," too. That's why I wouldn't say there's a "best character." Maybe there's a "character with the most good matchups," but definitely no "best character" since it varies from player to player.

Tier lists are not something to overcome--they're just a point of reference, and should only be used as such.

Also, I didn't mean to imply that a good Lucina will never BEAT a good Diddy Kong, or that some characters are "invincible." I just meant that a good Diddy Kong can take on far more than a good Lucina can with ease.
