What is your opinion on tier lists?​

Do you chose mains based on them or do you flat out don't give a **** about them?

I, personally, stay away from top tiers (in most cases) just because people get so damn cocky whenever they beat me with anyone outside of the top-tiers. That and because I like the fighters in the low tiers

i honestly don't care about tiers at all. the first time i was even made aware if them in smash was last year when this guy i was supposed to play with starting going on about the ""tier list"" and if i play any top tiers. i asked him what he was talking about and he was like, "how do you not know about the tier list?" it was annoying in the least.
i beat him in brawl afterwards anyway, so i waved off all his talk about the tier list.
personally, i think any character in smash has the potential to be good. it just takes a lot of practice, dedication, combo-making, etc. so no, i don't choose my mains based on the list.

I have no idea what the tier list is. I just choose the ones that I like :3 The only ones I use are rosalina, peach, olimar and villager.

I think tiers are bull ****. I choose a character I enjoy playing as. I do well as Marth with that sweet tipper sword and that one tier I checked on Reddit he was a B and the Japanese one he was like a D-. I also had a ton of trouble with an Ike in 1v1 earlier when I thought I had the advantage in speed, but I lost quite a bit.

I pay attention to Melee tier lists only. They never change anyway. Anyways, why does everybody think Greninja should be nerfed?

Any tier list made will change along with the game's balance, I don't see any harm in making one even though there will still be patches on the way. The point of tier lists is to just record tournament results and list the characters based on how well they do.

With that said, I just play characters I like. Some of my mains are higher tier while others are lower mid, I just pick the ones that are most fun to me. Ganondorf haters can eat a Warlock Punch.

I personally think that tiers are unnecissary when you know that things will change eventually, but that is just my opinion, aswell as my point. Your turn

Aside from certain characters being strangely powerful (which is why I veered far away from playing Diddy and a few others), Smash 4 feels pretty well-balanced aside from the occasional counter situation where some characters seriously struggle with a few specific ones (i.e. projectile users against opponents with good movesets to combat projectile usage, like Fox and Rosalina), but that's usually inevitable.
Funny enough, I have no freaking clue where Dr. Mario stands on tier lists, and he's been one of the most reliable characters for me zel. The others I often use - Falcon, Link, and MK - all seem just fine in most battles too. I can't really called anyone OP in this game barring occasional certain matchups (and pre-nerf Diddy), only a few feel a bit underpowered (WFT and Swordfighter).

She only needs a better grab range and a bit more knock back, and she will be top 15 at least. I think we need to battle so I can show you.

last time I played with a group of friends, one told me that the main 3 players (Game and Watch, King Dedede, and Duck Hunt) I use are all bottom of the barrel... but I mean, I wrecked them with all of them (not saying much) I think I'm able to hold my own on 1V1 for glory... but can someone post a reference for the tier list? and if so, I think a tier list isn't necessary as each person and character can use so many different styles that its hard to classify good vs bad characters

Well its the only one for the newest update. It isn't correct obviously, but it gives a good outline of where people are.
At least it's not like the day Mewtwo came out. I have no idea what the list was. (Mewtwo was like 4, Zelda went up to 9, Lucina was better than Marth to name a few things.)
