I'm really tired of this happening. Almost all the villagers on my dreamie list are tier 5, and getting a lot of them (including Pippy, Agnes, and Marice who I'm STILL LOOKING FOR) are a struggle because people just get rid of them automatically.

Yeah, it is a pain. I've even seen some people auto-void tier 4 villagers.. sometimes even tier 3!

I feel your pain. I could have gotten 500 friggin' Marinas when I was looking for her, but it's been a long while that I've tried to track down the other villagers I have planned. I've gotten lucky though with people seeing my posts in the LF thread and then contacting me about "less desired" ones.

I understand how annoying it is for the villager that you want to be voided by someone. But (and I'm probably going to sound like a jerk) here is how it is from a cycler's perspective:

I don't always cycle. But when I do have my cycling thread open I offer my services for free because my goal is really just to help as many people as I can. And at first I was doing it without voiding any villagers (or at least trying not to) So whenever a villager was in boxes I'd go ahead and make a post announcing their availability and then waited for someone to ask for said villager.

Popular villagers like Beau, Diana, Ankha would be claimed within minutes, sometimes even seconds of me posting that they were in boxes. But less popular villagers would take longer. I'm talking about hours here. Hours of me refreshing the tbt page, posting on tumblr, on reddit, and everywhere I could think of just to wait for someone to claim said villager. It was incredibly frustrating to waste so much time. Seriously, you have no idea how boring it is.

Then I realized something: I don't owe anyone anything. I'm offering my service for free, why should I stress over helping people who aren't even grateful for what I do for them? Seriously, half of the people I give villagers to don't even say thank you. And even less give me wi-fi rating.

So unless someone says "Lurking for _______" or anything along those lines I usually just void the villager I know isn't going to get adopted.

Some people even auto void tier 4s. Finding Lyman is gonna suck. But yeah tiers shouldn't exist.

I have Lyman. It took me forever to get him

Oh, I understand that. I'm referring to the people who don't even hold them for 5 minutes and don't allow lurkers or whatever. It just seems like a waste

if I had money for a second copy of the game and could handle running a cycling town, I'd do it. solely for giving every villager, no matter the tier, a fair chance. that said, if I find someone seeking a villager I might currently have and not plan on keeping, I will offer them to said person when they decide they want to leave my town. hasn't happened yet, but things like that are why I just kinda keep villagers around for as long as possible. it's also why I like to let some go.

I understand where you're coming from. Most cyclers give away the lower tiers. You can't move on to the next villager unless they're adopted or voided. It''s not like you have nothing better to do than wait hours or days for someone to want a certain villager. I really appreciate the cyclers here on tbt. If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't have gotten all of my dreamies. I personally haven't had much trouble getting my low tier villagers. I just check the cycling threads to see who they have. So far, every cycler was very nice and pm'ed me as soon as the low tier villager was in boxes. Some had a small reservation fee, but it was worth it to get my fave villagers.

The thing I really hate when people post a giveaway and they're like "voiding in 10" like what's the point. I saw a few of those for Mira, Cube, and Static. I hold a villager as long as I can, which is until I find a dream villager in boxes and have to make space, or if they aren't claimed after a few days and move out. It takes me 2 minutes to TT someone out for the void so I don't see why people want them gone instantly.

When I cycle I try and give every low tiered villager a chance. depending on what I'm doing, it'll be a few hours or like 30 mins or so.

but it is really annoying trying to find lower tiered villagers because they're always being auto-voided.

Lurking has helped wonders with me giving people their t5 dreamies. I've held T5 villagers that I thought people would really like or want, but holding for a day and then wondering, if I hold them for longer it could be weeks. So they get voided. And I normally like holding villagers for 30minutes-2hours but as of lately I've been holding them for days.

I stalk the LF/Buying thread and my lurker list, if not one wants that T5 I void them and turns out 2 weeks later someone's looking for them, which definitely isn't my fault. Just bad timing.

If I get a T5 dreamie someone's been looking for and they can't take them right away, I normally have held them for a day-3days, even though I Want to continue cycling. With T1's I won't hold, it's whoever is online and ready at that moment >.<

^ Basically, this. So with you there, pocky. No truer words have been spoken.

I'm gonna be sounding like an even bigger jerk than I already am:
(long whiny venting ahead so be warned and disclaimer: this is not directed at the OP, just something in general that I felt after a year of cycling, thanks for your understanding!)

- Last I checked, I am not obligated to cycle for everyone/anyone who happened to be looking for whoever villagers there.
There is this bizarre deep-rooted misconception that if you happened to be a 'cycler' (and I am using this term loosely) then you automatically became public property, and must tend to everyone's demands AND expected to be there online and ready 24/7 so they can grace your thread to do you an immensely huge favor by adopting villagers from your cycling towns. I have seen this happened way too often with some of my friends (thankfully they all stopped cycling for various reasons).

- Most players, myself included, probably have limited time for the game or cycling. I choose not to waste my time sitting around for hours if not days for someone to pick up whatever villagers that I do not like or care about - be it a Tier 1 or 5.
I auto-void many many villagers, including a LOT of Tier 1s, because I don't like them, and have no intention of adopting them out EVEN IF they are popular and could sell for some decent bells. I do not, however, auto-void lower tiers because they are lower tiers. I void them because I don't like them. Hey, it's my game, you can do whatever you like with *yours* : you love to adopt out every single villagers for free no matter how long it takes? You don't mind waiting for hours and days for that rude/non-responsive/entitled member to bother to actually come and pick up that villager? Kudos to you, you have my respect and thumbs up.

- People tend to conveniently forget that cyclers need to invest actual time and $$ to provide other players with villagers. I cannot speak for others, but I choose to not cycle for free as a general rule. Why on earth would I wanna do that? I spend rl $ on 3 3DS XL along with 3 ACNL games, and to cycle one villager into boxes, even with the simple and speed cycling method, it usually take about 2.5 mins. A full village would take 25-30 mins to cycle out. All this time spent to get you your desired villager and you expect me to offer all the villagers for free, especially the more popular ones where some people will just 'saved/cloned' them for reselling later? Heck no. I input a good amount of time and I would prefer some sort of payment for it. You dislike paying an adoption fee for your villager? then you can go to the other 51354876933 cycling threads and get yours there.

- As for lurkers/reservations/taking villgers off av: Why would I want to offer any false hopes to lurkers when I know that I won't be bother to wait around? I'd rather stated clearly that no removing of av since I do not do that, so no one would come to an ugly disappointment thinking I would do that if they asked. At least I am not wasting their time when they can lurk in other threads and obtain their villagers elsewhere. Yes I did made some exceptions for several members here, but that's up to my discretion and you are not necessarily entitled to it.

Well, good thing for everyone that I have removed myself from the cycling 'department', and do not need to whine about it anymore lol. As I mentioned in the last post of my (closed) cycling thread, there are no more reasons/excuses/motivations left for me to continue cycling, plus the sad truth that the practice of 'backing up saved files of most if not all villagers for reselling or giving away' is a common sight now (ever wonder how some cyclers always have ALL villagers available? or how come they only sell certain popular villagers?), just like powersaving all DLC and items in ACNL, it seems like it'd be the right time to move onto other games, and wait for the next installment of a new AC.

@Beardo: Pippy is awesome and GL finding her and Agnes and Marcie soon! C:

This drives me nuts sometimes. You want HOW MUCH tbt for a villager you are going to sell over and over again? At least be reasonable, jeebus criminy.

I've had some people ask me for over 200 TBT for a tier 3 via PM when asking in the "looking for" thread. Its really, really annoying.

Sigh. I totally understand where you're coming from. I clearly stated in my thread that when you lurk for a villager, I'd PM them when they're in boxes and that I do not hold villagers. So I message the lurkers, they don't reply for HOURS and someone else comes by and takes them. Then the lurker finally replies and sends me tbt immediately assuming he stills gets him. So when I send it back they cuss me out in the most awful way. Even ones with good wifi feedback. Even in their message I say I may not have them by the time you reply to this..

But when people ask to take the AV and I wait a day and they don't pick them up, I feel really bad and I wait a day or longer. Which basically is wasting my time, but I don't want to be mean. So the unAV gets me every time, giving them more of an advantage than the others.

I'd hate to not take AV off when people ask because of people who don't check in often..Ik you can be busy in real life, but I have a life too.

Thanks! Pippy is so cool, it's a shock she's tier 5. Marcie is adorable, and Agnes (though she's tier 4) is a sweetie and it just makes me mad no one will give her a chance.

You made a lot of great points. It pisses me off how much people expect from cyclers. I just hate it when people just automatically void a villager because of their tier.

Agnes the pig right?

I have her in my cycling town if you want her ill cycle her out this weekend for you :3
