Thoughts on villagers with more human-like features?

Some villagers have features that make them look more human than animal and it sometimes bothers me. Like Felicity is cute and all but her face looks more like a girl than a cat and sometimes it creeps me out.

I agree! I stay away from those villagers. Monique is another cat example... she's too human looking for me lol it's weird

I like it if done well. I don’t want all my villagers to be the same style and I think every avenue of design should be explored which is what I love about the villagers in Animal Crossing. Raymond is a good example of a human-like appearance...Barold is a bad one but in a good way lol. Villagers can be ugly just like humans.

I don’t mind most of the time when animals have more human features, but they don’t end up being my top picks. However, when they have facial hair—especially 5’o clock shadows— that’s terrifying. Especially with prince and his sudden human skin tone...He’d look so much better if they just used a yellow-green for his mouth instead.

I am indeed creeped out by Limberg and his 5 o clock shadow.

meh not really a fan either, Chrissy and Francine look very humanlike to me so I tend to avoid them

Personally I think Felicity looks nothing "Human"-like but that's my opinion.

I'll just say that most villagers with facial hair are a bit offputting.

Felicity is cute but her full head of hair and her eyes and mouth look like more of a cartoon version of a little girl (zoom in on her face and crop her ears and she looks more like a player than a villager) than a cat (like KiKi or Lolly). But that’s also just me. 🙂

I feel like all the villagers are somewhere on a spectrum between animal-looking and human-looking. Usually somewhere in the middle, which lands them a cartoon-animal appearance. Molly is an example of a villager on the animal-looking extreme. Because they're supposed to be my neighbors I don't mind it too much unless it becomes something like Barold or Limberg. Eugene somehow looks great with his... muttonchops? is that the word? Beardo isn't everyone's cup of tea but he doesn't necessarily look bad. He looks like a silly overly-sophisticated blue bear lol.

Hm... I guess it sorta depends on the human features? I don't mind when villagers wear make-up, have eyebrows, have hair, or have humanly eyes (eyes similar to the Resident Representative and other human avatars). I see a lot of people bringing up Barold and Limberg, specifically their facial hair, and I don't find either of them really distressing either (Barold's lips are kind of unsettling for me, but that's about it).

Maybe it's because I really like snooty villagers and I'm just used to seeing the traits mentioned above (hair, eyebrows, make-up, humanly eyes, etc.), because I've never really noticed how human they actually are appearance-wise and never gave it any further thought aside from "Ooh, pretty!" or "They look nice!"

it kind of bothers me too! i actually really liked felicity at first, but she started creeping me out a bit because of this after i actually had her in my acnl town c’: it’s also why i generally prefer the animal species that are significantly shorter than the player character, as opposed to the same height o:

If there's any villager that creeps me out from looking too human, honestly? It's Judy. She has a tiny point for a nose like an anime girl. Looks like an alien more than she does a bear cub. Not a fan.

I never really though of Felicity being too human, she's still just a kitty person to me and I think she's cute, just like the other villagers. Off the top of my head, I think Barold looks the most human and gross to me. Sorry, Barold fans.

facial hair and hair that's anything more than a small tuft on their head puts me off

maelle is a karen and it makes me very uncomfortable

Chrissy looks like I would have just caught her either stubbing out a cigarette or just finishing with her last John and that's just not what I want out of a cute game like Animal Crossing lol

I mean, they are capable of speaking... If that's not human-like, I don't know what is haha.
But yeah, now that I think about it, I don't think any of my villagers are human-looking. Guess I stay away from them, even if unconsciously.
