Thoughts on time travelling

I used to do it alot...but now i rarely do it...mainly just to get my grass back to iys beutiful greeny state

I don't do it a lot now, I kinda dislike it. It somewhat feels like cheating, but this is the animal crossing universe. Where anthropomorphic animals outnumber humans by a lot, and they openly acknowledge your time travel anyways.

I do not believe time traveling is bad. Considering it will take 12 years to obtain all items of the Chinese zodiac set, it seems more than reasonable to time travel and collect them. Especially since this game is set in real time which makes getting holiday items exceptionally difficult!!

I've always time traveled for my own convenience - if I'm ordering a lot of items from the catalogue I don't want to have to wait forever just to get them, especially since the mailbox can only hold 10 letters and sometimes it's more than that.. same goes for if I'm customizing an entire furniture set because you have to do it piece by piece (I have three characters in my town though so it goes a bit faster even without TTing). And if I'm having a hard time deciding pwp placement I don't want to have to wait a day for it to be built just so I can decide to tear it down immediately either lol there's just so many scenarios where it has come in handy. OH and when I was trying to move out some of my old villagers TTing was absolutely key, I swear that would have literally taken months otherwise.

So, I do it when I'm impatient or when it's simply just the more practical thing, but in general I try to play the game day-by-day. When it was new and I was hooked on it I definitely TT'd more though, just to be able to play it longer haha

i time travel if i wanted to participate in an event, the stores are closed, etc. (basically if i just want to).

time travel isn't bad hacking or cheating. some people are like "tt is hacking u sinners" and that's really dumb honestly. if it was "hacking" then it wouldn't be a feature inside the game...

All ten of my villagers call me 'The Time Traveler'.

They don't call me 'The Hacker' or 'The Cheater'.

TT'ing is a thing I always do, and I always get surprised with people on here that refuse to TT. I have no idea how people don't get tempted to do so or have so much patience! I get crazy when I'm in my town doing nothing after 5 minutes, so I'm impressed by people that don't "cheat".

They're like those Monks that spend 50 years on a mountain top, slowing their heartbeats to 3 per minute, so they can live another 50 years. O_O

I don't have that kind of patience.

'tis a necessary evil... Just kidding, I do it if I don't have time to play during the day but I like playing in season and I like the in game moon matching the real one and found that out the hard way and if I'm not smart enough to manage actual time then it's just a matter of time before I screw something up so I try very hard not to.

Why, thank you. Lol.

I used to think TTing was like cheating, but I don't anymore and honestly, I get why people do it. Doing the same thing day and day in, waiting for the good stores to open can be tedious. I still don't time travel, though, because I am afraid of my villagers such as Beardo. Though I have thought about TTing to later in the day to when all the stores are open and to see if I can get Fauna to move out. I haven't, though, and I've been unlocking things remarkably fast in Tsundoku (unlocked Club LOL, the Dream Suite, the QR machine, and woke up Cyrus all on the same day). So I don't really feel I need to.

Just to clarify I don't think TTing is cheating. I just think that it makes the game super fun for about a week before it becomes boring.

Have done it in WW and haven't done it ever since.
I like to savor this game and by being patient I can enjoy it much longer.
Won't do it ever again.

I don't habitually time travel but I don't think it's cheating. I did it one weekend in my nephew's long abandoned town because I wanted to grow gold roses and experience Leif's weeding day, but I didn't particularly enjoy my time doing it and probably wouldn't do it again.

It'll be interesting to see how a Switch version handles time. As far as I'm aware, my Switch games use internet time, not the time set on my console. For example, you're only able to scan in amiibo once a day, no matter how much fiddling you do with time settings.

I wonder how time travellers would cope if the ability were to be removed in future games.

it becomes boring over time. i don't time travel, though i do have the default time set 7 hours behind as i mostly play during the night, if you count that as time travelling. i used to do it a lot, and i have no problems if you do. i don't think it's cheating.

The only exception to time travelling I have for myself is for certain situations such as helping out a friend with something that may involve it such as saving an item in Nook's or obtaining an item, or if an animal asks you for a petition late in the evening hours and expects you to get it done that night (thanks Purrl) and TT to stay on the same day indefinitely.

Otherwise, I only play on current time daily as there is already enough to do daily once you get into the game after you unlocked lots of the game features, otherwise I'd get burnt out so fast. I don't care at all what other players do though when it comes to time travel, it's their play choice and if they want to time travel that's totally fine. :)

ive tried to do turnips, but i find it way too tedious a task. also, i dont have much money to invest in turnips because i spend it as soon as i get it lol.

edit oh my god i forgot to reply with quote anyways this was for locokoko im a wreck

Oh wow, that's a pretty strong stance on it that you wont play with tters! i think its cool that youre so devoted to the idea of animal crossing in real time

Well I will play with them, but I won't abuse the fact that they're doing it to my own advantage, also love your avatar, Danganronpa ftw.

I go through phases where TT'ing is super fun then I get bored of it and play day by day for a while then go back to TT'ing.

I don't think it's cheating I've never minded tt'ing or hacking. As long as you're not purposefully ruining someone else's gameplay then you're good in my book

I really only use TTing when it comes down to moving in/moving out villagers or key upgrades like building an additional bridge. Also I'll go day hopping with a town before I reset to try and get a few more axes to make it easier to landscape the next one.

For the rest of my time I prefer to just go with the flow :)

Go with the flow?
To a dead halt.

I'd have thrown NL out a year ago if I couldn't TT.

To think, it took FIVE MONTHS to unlock a certain thing.

Some people don't have 5 months - literally.

I think of this game as my chill out relaxation time, that it plays at the same rate as real time makes the game difficult for me to play and still experience all the game has to offer on a daily basis.

I know there are ingame 'legit' ways to minimise the things you miss but the easier way is to freeze time and play every ingame day as and when you can. Its how I play, its not exactly time travelling as I just move slowly forward - just at a slower rate than real time. I like to see the shops/club lol etc unfold slowly, its part of the charm of the game for me.

Its not a competitive game, well I don't see it as such, and how other players play is their personal choice.

Visiting other towns set on a different date (my towns are on different dates) - there are no problems - the date/time has never been referenced by my villagers when a character from one of my other towns visits.

You can sell turnips in a town set at a different date to your own either backwards or forwards - amount of time (eg months apart) does not matter. Assuming you buy the turnips in your own town, the rules on turnips pertain to your own town (ie no backward TT over a past save nor more than 7 days forward).

Yes this interests me a lot as well. Haven't got a Switch so didn't know how it handled time. If it takes internet time then you always have to be wifi connected to play? That doesn't suit me overwell. Plus I wouldn't want to play ac Switch in real time, I would still want to play slower. Hmm - well will have to see how Nintendo handle it.
