I don?t know how it happened, but Dizzy moved on top of my paths? I had 8 villagers in my town because I wanted to move in a dreamie of mine, Butch, and my town is covered in paths with little open spots for villagers to move in. But, to prevent any random villager from moving in, I put a path in the middle of the open spots so I can wait to see if anyone has Butch and I can clear a spot to move him in. I have a little space that has trees and flowers diagonally, but there?s paths in between each one, in no way was there any chance a villager could move there. But somehow Dizzy moved on top of the trees, flowers, and paths? Very weird. I?m getting another villager to move out anyway to move in Butch but I?m just confused as how he landed on there (and of course had to destroy my orange roses)

They did that to me all the time. Even though I lay patterns everywhere possible, and left valid plots where villagers had previously lived, leaving the space for the door, and they'd still move where they wanted at times.

Then I learned to plot reset, and that solved everything.

This happened to me too. I laid out a nice little suburb for my dreamies to move in, but they moved in on top of my paths. I was plot resetting though. So, I gave up on that note town, lol.

And I thought the Welcome Amiibo update fixed that, but oh well. I’ll just ignore him and he should move out soon anyway lmao

If I'm reading your post correctly, you only had 8 villagers in your town and you were trying to prevent a 9th villager from moving in by laying down patterns. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. You cannot prevent a villager from moving in. If you are below 9 villagers, the game will force another villager to move in and if your town is completely covered in patterns then they will just ignore the patterns and plot as if the patterns were not there.

You can have a total of 10 villagers, though, and the 10th villager can only come via streetpass, inviting them from the campsite or another town, or from someone's void if you visit their town or they visit yours. So you can still get Butch to move in if you're only at 9 villagers without having to wait for someone else to move out.
