So, I'm thinking about restarting my game because I can't figure out what to do with my map, but I'm hesitant. I have soooo many diys and cataloged items and nook miles achievements at this point, that I'm not sure if it's worth it restarting and trying to get all those again. But also I'm just sick of not knowing what the heck I want to do with my island map. Thoughts? I have lots of amiibos so getting my dreamies wont be a problem except for Zucker.

i mean, if your only reason for wanting to restart is not knowing what to do with your island, what makes you sure you’ll know what to do with another island? like khaelis said, i wouldn’t restart unless you’re 100% unhappy with your island ;u;

The thing is I want to have most of my shops on the beach now and my beach isn't really fit for that, because I wasn't thinking about that at the time when I started.

speaking from experience: the farther you progress, the harder it's gonna be to reset, but you're still going to want to if you do right now. it's like an itch you can't scratch. even the littlest thing that bothers you will most likely continue to bother you down the line.

i felt i had no choice to reset because i encountered a glitch (that didn't stop me from progressing but it still bothered me - plus i decided i didn't like my first map bc of the double south outlet rivers), and i feel so much better about it now that i have - i love my new map, i achieved all my dreamies all over, i like my native fruit, got the same airport color by chance, etc. really it can be so hard to restart but sometimes it's needed and while it can be a pain in the butt to start over, it can be worth it. basically i'm saying if i were you i'd probably reset because i have no self control lol but like, you gotta take everything into account carefully. are you willing to do it all over again? will you miss your map? will you miss the little details such as the rock placements on the beach, etc? it's a big decision

All good advice. I would say if you do there are catalog parties so getting your catalog back shouldn't be too hard. If you need flowers and hybrids let me know I have almost all of them. I would suggest finding a friend that can hold items such as nook mile tickets, some tools since you won't have them all right away, maybe some of your bells, and Easter set if you have it. Plus the nookmile items if you like the color have. For example the lighthouse because they might not be the same or colors you want.

Idk if it'll be worth it, you can still potentially experience the same thing after you reset but i also get the urge the start over tbh, it's up to you

I wouldn't tbh...I had the same thoughts when I first started building up my island. I'm really glad I didn't now though. Don't get overwhelmed trying to make those elaborate designs you see on social media. Just start simple and build off of that.

You could try wiping the island you have? Dig up all the trees, store all the items, trash the flowers... and just see where you want to go from there? Personally, I've struggled with this feeling a lot as I've developed my island. But I know I'd run into the same feeling if I were to restart. What ended up working for me was clearing out an entire area, placing an item I loved, and then spending the next few days expanding out from there. Take it slow!

I agree with everyone and don't see this as a reason to restart. You'll find the same feeling again

I’m gonna be honest with you, resetting was a biiiig idea for me for the longest time.

I got peaches, a green airport and lots of things I wanted but I felt upset about my map and how close the residential services was to my airport. At the time I thought I’d be able to move it later but then... I found out you couldn’t.

I had already invested a lot of time in my game by the point that I came to these realizations. I was uninspired and all I kept thinking is that I wanted to reset.

Only thing that held me back was all the diys and the villagers I had. So I took a looong break and came back to it when I actually felt up to it. I started thinking of ideas I wanted ( Like for my shops to be closer to my entryway but not AT my entryway. ) and I just blindly started terraforming but I took my time.

Now I can’t imagine resetting haha and I really don’t want to.

I think if you wanted to reset fully, you’d have no hesitation. Diys and items? You can get them again. Villagers? You could island hop or hunt for them here!

Instead of resetting:

Maybe set everything out of the way and flatten your island to one tier and slowly start getting inspired by other things? Areas maybe in your favorite video game to pay homage to. Find a general theme for your island that you’d like and compile a list?

Just anything! Make sure you have room for upcoming buildings too, though. We’ve no idea what Brewster’s part of the game is going to bring. At the same time, it’s always fun to have something to constantly do imo. I don’t mind if they unexpectedly put something in the game bc it makes it not so stale.

TLDR; if you’re hesitating, I don’t think you truly want to reset. Take a break from it and then come back when you’re ready. Look for inspo and compile lists of what you want/like. I think it’s more fun to make the things you DON’T like work for you! <3 Good luck!

Maybe start with just completely leveling out the entire map, no trees, water, cliffs, flowers etc. just put everything on the beach and think from there, i put nearly 650 hours into this game and only just recently (like 2 weeks ago) finally made my island into something, I had nothing on my island for my entire playtime up until now, was just a empty parking lot w/ every building on the beaches!! :b and I would constantly think about resetting to get a new layout with different things, but since my catalog is almost finished, same w/ DIYs I couldn't do it, your island can be anything you want, so only reset if you truly cannot do anything with what you currently have, it's a huge process to start over!! Don't stress out over terraforming, you can go at your own pace, work in sections instead of trying to do it all at once? once you break up each portion it becomes a lot more manageable to be creative w/!

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I think I've decided not to start over. Ultimately it would just be a huge pain to get all the DIYs I have again which I think would also discourage me after restarting. I'm working on my entryway right now and I'm gonna try to work outward from there :)
