Things you've always wondered about in acnl?

Speaking of Mother's Day, I TT'd to tomorrow, and the bulletin board said it was Mother's Day. O_o

They've truly lost the plot.
Mother's Day is May 13th.

Do Reese and Cyrus have unlimited money? How do they have so much? I've made 150mill+ off them and they show no sign of running out of funds. Who do they sell to? Because, sorry Cyrus, but while your furniture business may be crafty, it's no where near enough to pay the bills.

Who is my mother and why can't I send her gifts? I feel bad for not sending her gifts, especially on holidays like Mother's Day or Christmas.

And what about my father? Apparently we have one (as he is mentioned in letters), but where is he? Why doesn't he send letters?

Where does everyone go when all of the stores close? Do they, just, not live in town? Do they sleep in the shop?

Why is Leif so happy to go from getting his own store to a booth in Timmy and Tommy's? Sure, he gets a bit more room, but Gracie gets her own floor, and what does Leif get? A small corner.

Do Isabelle, Kapp'n, Digby or Luna get, like, any sleep? How are they not dead or at least look incredibly unhealthy?

Why are the open/closing hours so awful for the Emporium (9pm? Come on, man. That's WAY too early!) but super late in the T&T Mart, which is the first upgrade (not including the shack, of course)?

How awful was our previous mayor? There were only five residents, all of the stores were downgraded and practically empty, there was no decent landscaping and no PWPs... Did he get fired or something?

What happens if the real mayor comes back and decides he actually does want to be the mayor?

Dad does s send a letter on fathers day.
And leif dosnt really sell much anyway...so why should he have his own floor?

I bet Tom Nook used to be an old bachelor who always followed all the rules a little too close and women thought he was plain and cheapskate.

Way back when (like approaching ten years ago now... wow) I read a fanfic that filled in his and Sable's backstory outside of what's already there in the game, and basically they were in love once, but his ambition wound up pushing her away and they broke up. And anyway that's stuck with me since and is always how I imagine them haha.

I guess I've always wondered overall where all the other humans are? Like are there whole human towns out there with maybe one animal living in them? Are the towns segregated this way on purpose (in some games the villagers talk about how strange it is that a human would come to live there)?

About 99% sure it was Tortimer. You can see his picture in the back of the town hall. Also in the The Roost, Phyllis will complain that the previous mayor was always sleeping, only coming out for events which fits Tortimer perfectly. So it was basically City Folk without the player character. And we all know what happens when you leave a town unattended.

He doesn't sell much because he doesn't have the room for it :(

Forgot about Father's Day, lol.

No wonder everyone is so impressed by our work as mayor. It's because we're like 10x better, lmao.

He's awake on the island though, so he clearly could have done a better job. He just chose not to. Tortimer is easily the worst Nintendo villain. Yeah, Bowser and Ganon are technically more destructive, but at least they aren't so apathetic!

Tortimer used to be but they're was supposed to be another mayor before us. That's why at the start of the game Isabelle greets you as the mayor (saying she was expecting you to get off the train) and your only options are acting confused etc. We weren't supposed to be mayor, but no one knows who was supposed to get off that train instead.

Fun fact! Many people believe Rover was intended to be the new Mayor. Think about it. Who ever was going to be mayor had to be on the train with you as Isabelle and everyone was expecting you. Which means it could have only been Porter, Rover or you. It obviously wouldn’t be Porter, so what about Rover? Obviously, I suppose there could have been characters sat behind us that we just didn’t see thanks to the first person view point, but let’s stick with Rover for a second because we’ll come back to this point. He comes up to you and initiates in conversation. He seems awfully interested in who you are and where you’re going. You tell him your name and the town and even the map. People’s theory is that Rover was elected for mayor but didn’t really want to give up his life of roaming. So when he learnt you’d be going to the same town, he let you take his place.

But if that wasn’t enough, let go back to my earlier point of well perhaps the mayor was someone we didn’t see on the train. And this could have been possible. Until maybe a few days into the game when you receive a letter from an unknown person congratulating you on your mayorhood. The letter addresses you by name and the first person we told our name to and that we were coming to live here was Rover.

*Brain explodes*

Mother's Day is May 13th.

It's Mothers Day or Mothering Sunday here in Britain and the rest of Europe tomorrow , 11 th March.

Rover says he hadn't done much traveling since 2002, he sorta goes into a trance and ignores what he just said. Why was 2002 specific?

Because thats when Animal Crossing came out...for the Nintendo GameCube

I like to think the same as you, that it was Rover who was supposed to be the mayor instead of us lol, it does make a lot of sense

& also, ive always wondered why & how even my mom & dad let me travel alone ?? like why couldn't we be with our parents, where are they ?

About how we became mayor, we aren't meant to overthink it.

We are mayor, and that's it. ^_^

Why villagers ask, "what kind of animal do you think I'd be?" This question further proves my point that the villagers aren't actually animals but people in animal costumes!

Your town is actually a colony of extreme furry roleplayers. Only people in fur suits are allowed in. They are so dedicated to their fantasy that they never take them off. Why is the player allowed in then? You are actually wearing a human fur suit on top of your actual human body.

How old are our villagers supposed to be? And if they're young how did our parents let us venture by ourselves

Nah! Your human players are allowed in because they themselves are the actual talking animals in human skin, which is why you get to choose what your character looks like on the train ride - plot twist!

Why, when my male character goes to the island, does Kapp'n ask in one paragraph "Do you want to go alone, or with others?" and when I use my female character, she has to listen to FIVE PARAGRAPHS before she gets to choose? O_o

so i have to listen to his blabber and the boys don't?!

Also, who are our parents in the game, and why did they send us to a town filled with walking animals?
