Theory/Idea: Shop Upgrade?

Been on my mind lately now, but I was thinking...

We know that there are probably shop upgrades coming based on past games and the unused plank space under the building, just not when and what they might include.

Maybe when the shop upgrades, it "unlocks" some past furniture sets from other AC games? Kind of like how the recent upgrade introduced lots of expensive furniture like laptops, pianos, etc., so the newest one becomes more of a furniture store.

Maybe with shop upgrades comes some kind of service to unlock customisation for things we normally can't customise? Like, what happened to those white fences from the trailers a while back? We also thought we'd never be able to get foreign flowers without trading but then they introduced Leif. (Doesn't work when thinking about foreign fruit though). I don't know if they'd give this role back to Cyrus if they actually ever introduce customisation for furniture we can't craft.

If Leif gets a permanent spot, maybe he'll sell fertiliser to grow perfect fruit or tropical fruit (the mangoes, lemons etc).

And finally, I think they may follow ACNL and reintroduce Gracie in the final shop upgrade.

Some of these ideas are probably farfetched, but if they are locking shop upgrades behind updates, maybe they are big enough to warrant spoiler prevention? Also, the fact that the recent shop upgrade is still called "Nook's Cranny" instead of Nook 'n' Go is a bit weird to me.

I think for sure there will be more shop upgrades in the future. I would also love to see more customizable fencing options and some permanence for characters like Leif or maybe even Label on the island. It's the natural next step and a feature I really hope is included in the next or a future update!

I just want the newer shop to sell ALL colors of items. Being locked to a single color that's out of your control is despicable.

I agree with the single colour thing including the Nook Mile items. I hate this feature tbh, it seems obvious they were pushing the trading aspect. But this is why I'd rather customise those items because you'd have to wait for the colour you want, and if there's like 5 colour variants, then you could be waiting a long time...

I'd be surprised if we didn't get a new shop eventually since the previous games had you upgrade the shop a few times. I'd hope for Gracie Grace to sell stuff upstairs. I'd also love it if they brought back the ability to display what the flooring and wallpaper looks like before buying.

Yeah me too, I think it is wishful thinking but we can always dream

a 100% certain a shop upgrade is coming. there's just literally no way we'll be stuck with this. it's just ac tradition for shops to have more upgrades, i just think they want us to have them at the same time. the furni in different colors is definitely something everyone has been asking now, and i hope they reconsider. enough with promoting this online trading thing to the maximum as if we aren't subscribed to it already lol

I've been pretty reluctant to buy wallpaper and flooring because of this.

I would love if your ideas about Leif are correct!! and would also love Gracie/Label to be more permanent, bc at the moment I'm not loving Label taking up an NPC visit where she doesn't really have a use.

The roped-off area near the till's meant to be the stockroom, the same way there's a closed-off doorway in the base Nook's Cranny on the left-hand side. Another upgrade would take the form of another store entirely, similar to older games... perhaps we'll get Nook N' Go, finally?

However, I generally agree with Jez's idea and it makes sense that they'd (re)introduce more furniture that way... it's just a matter of waiting for the update that includes it to come out, as I feel in general they're trying to stretch the amount of time it takes to fully upgrade your island so that it doesn't just become fully upgraded in 4 months, like NL.

The current design fits my theme so well I honestly don't know if I want another upgrade :/
