I took the mathematics test today, and there's one problem that's been BUGGING THE HECK out of me all day! It asked about two brands of dog food, where 8 Ibs of Brand X and 1 Ib of Brand Y cost $8.40. Then it said that 16 Ibs of Brand X and 8 Ibs of Brand Y cost $24.00. I had to find the cost per pound of Brand Y. The choices were something along the lines of...

A $0.90
B $1.02
C $2.20
D $4.08

I think I guessed choice C. The problem simply did not click for me...

But you said you needed to find the cost per pound of Brand Y and you said the price of a lb was 8.40

That's what I thought when I first read the problem. But apparently from the answer choices that were given, 8.40 is not the answer.

Apparently. I tried absolutely everything that I could think of, and I still could not get an answer. I just don't know how 8.40 is not a potential answer.

Did you ask your teacher bout it

yeah ... that question is obviously not written write. Either you misread it, misinterpreted it, or the people making the test didn't do a very good job on writing the questions.

You guys are just having standardized testing now? We had ours back in the middle of March. So glad it's over now.....

ours aren't until next month.......well, most of them, we already had our writing and science standardized tests.

Have fun with that haha. In my school the sophomores have to take them in high school, and while we had to go in at normal time everyone got to sleep in until 10am, but hopefully if I don't have to remake any next year I will get to sleep in too!

Yeah, it's either A or B.
The TAKS has such strict rules! The teachers can't even say good luck to us. They say it's because us kids are getting "creative" and finding new ways to cheat. I understand that, but no goof luck? I mean, come on! I missed the matematics TAKS today (Hooray!) due to flash flooding. Everyone in the Fort Bend county did.

Heh, in the show me state we got MAP

no pun intended, ironic tho
