Okay, brutally honest opinion. After spending a month with the Switch 2, I've grown to like it. I like how the games from Switch 1 got a Frame Rate update. I was able to enjoy Animal Crossing: New Horizons again, thanks to faster load times, and there was no sign of lag. Then, when I played Pokémon Violet again, it felt so much better. Felt like I was playing a new game.

That being said, I do have some concerns about it. The battery life is not as good as the Switch One. I was disappointed that the battery doesn't last too long. Additionally, they didn't utilize the console themes effectively. I mean, really? They could've done so much more with the themes. Not to mention that the UI looks very similar to Switch 1, and they never really bothered to change it.

Overall, I am mixed on the Switch 2. While it is a great system that significantly improves many of the Switch 1 games with a steady frame rate, I am disappointed that there weren't many changes to the UI. The system's Battery life could have been better if I didn't have to worry about constantly charging it.

What about you guys?

I love it. I haven't had much issues with battery life! I love how smooth everything feels and how fast things feel like they load. But I do agree about the themes. I keep getting off and on irritated by it, ngl. I said before, it feels like a missed opportunity. Why even HAVE a theme section if it's just black or white. Let me have a cute ACNH inspired theme, or Pokemon. SOMETHING. Anything.

I got it day one. Went to the "Breakfast Launch" at my local EB Games (they opened two hours earlier at 7AM). It's a great console and actually makes Pokemon Scarlet/Violet enjoyable and makes me realise that yeah, it's one of the better Pokemon games, especially in recent years. It's just a pity that they couldn't optimise it for Switch 1 properly.
Animal Crossing is enjoyable now, too. The loading times on Switch 1 were insufferably obnoxious.
Like others have said in the thread - themes. Why haven't they added more themes? It's such an obvious change they should make. They probably will add some down the road but I guess we'll see.

I managed to find one and transferring everything and my island was easier than I thought. I haven't had it as long as everyone else, but just the loading times with NH makes it night and day when it was on the Switch. I can easily run through my heavily decorated island without any lag and I love it. Does that justify the price just for NH? No, but my original Switch was going up and I needed to replace it before I lost my island.

I too am mixed about it. I think it looks sleek, better than the original. I love the magnets; my joycon aren't constantly slipping out from minor movements now which is nice. Load times are great! My games feel almost new, it’s truly lovely.

My negative feelings come mainly from
Nintendos approach to dealing with their consumers. I’m nervous to buy anything for my switch 2 that’s not Nintendo branded due to potential banning. Nervous of previously owned games, again due to banning (although I hear you can usually get your account back BUT I shouldn’t be at risk of a ban in the first place). Nervous of power fluctuations causing the system to think it’s being modded and thus banning. It feels like the console isn’t even mine and that it’s being loaned to me.

Overall it’s a great console. I just don’t exactly care for Nintendos current approach and ban procedures.

i haven't bought one yet, i'm holding out in hopes they eventually do a full re-release of twilight princess HD on the switch for TP's 20th anniversary next year. my current switch is a launch switch, so i'll probably put CFW on it once i get my hands on a switch 2, but i'm not in a big hurry. the price tag for switch 2 is nearly the same as my xbox series x...and i just feel like...there's no way that the consoles are comparable. am i wrong? let me know cuz i'm genuinely curious!
as others have said with the themes, i find it interesting that they haven't done any capitalizing on it. 3ds they offered themes (for pay i think) and i would be willing to spend a couple dollars to have a nice theme on it if they did something similar. seems ridiculous to have to mod a console to have a theme on it lol

i dont have one and probably wont get one unless they put something on it that i cant live without.
i love my switch 1 and i love the concept of owning physical games. i have digital games but overall i PREFER physical.

my roommate has a switch 2 though and we all played mario kart world. not even a big mario kart fan but that was FUN :D

my overall opinion on the switch 2 is that it’s sort of mid. sorry, that’s just my opinion. I’m not really interested in the selection of games that are out at the moment and i’m not considering buying one unless tomodachi life has really favorable reviews and if a new animal crossing is announced.

other than that, i still think the UI is bland. it literally looks like the original switch which i wasn’t really a fan of to begin with.

I haven't bought one though I may in the future though that depends on if I feel the price tag is worth it. As a major nerd about pokemon I am very happy that people are realizing SV is a great game and that it didnt take like ten years unlike poor BW and SM. I do think the system looks better and is an improvement on the original switch based on what I have read and been told by friends. Joy Cons definitely look like they have been fixed at the least. My major downside is that I heavily prefer physical games not digital as you actually own it and to me a digital game can feel like you don't truly own it you are just borrowing it. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong though.

I've been enjoying my Switch 2. So far Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are the only games I've purchased that are available on the Switch 2 but not the Switch 1, and I like them both. I wasn't sure if I'd like Donkey Kong Bananza, but I've actually had a lot of fun playing it. Aside from those two games, I think the only games coming to the Switch 2 and not also the Switch 1 that I'm looking forward to at the moment are Splatoon Raiders and the Star-Crossed World upgrade pack for Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Hopefully the next regular Nintendo Direct will reveal some more Switch 2 games for me to look forward to

I love the colors and resolution on the new screen on the Switch 2, but I hate how large it is. The system is heavy to the point where it’s uncomfortable to hold for long playing sessions or in bed. The key cards were also a distaster and as much as I enjoy Mario Kart World and Bravely Default HD, neither game justified the $450 price tag for the console.

I do love how much better Switch 1 games run on the console, even without patches. Games with frame rate issues on the original Switch run like a dream now and loading screens are much shorter. The Switch 2 Pro controller is also one of my favorite controllers of all time now.

If they cut the price by $50-$100, added themes, and made a model that was a bit smaller and more ergonomic it’d be perfect in my eyes.

I really like the Switch 2. the bigger screen size is right about my preference size of 8 inches. it makes it alot more comfortable to play handheld. I never liked handheld on switch 1. I even got handle grips attachments to play switch 2 handheld. and even got No Man's Sky that I play on PC mainly on Switch 2, just to play game handheld. wild to me having handheld appeal when I don't leave home with anything at all.
Also just the whole thing being bigger thus the joys cons feels a bit nicer. and the weight of it all I really like the heavy feel. the plastic used is way nicer then switch 1. and makes it feel quite premium. the joycon attachments is way nicer too. I got my Switch 1 day 1 release back in 2017. still the same joy cons that came with it. since the joy cons are all plastic and the railing on console is metal. the joy cons are now slightly too loose and wont stay a solid connection to the switch anymore, but still work well wireless. and I amazingly never got stick drift in them
and just general things like a type C port at the top, a way better kick stand. better hardware and able to play switch 1 games at better performance even without upgrade packs. all around Switch 2 is much nicer, I love it
