The Player: Are we really human?

We don't have a wormhole stomach, we have a maximum amount that can go in there.

Based on the posts throughout this thread, I am of the opinion now that our player characters are members of a humanoid but not homo sapien species. Perhaps they might be descendants or off-shoots, or they could be entirely unrelated.
The fact that they can, when sufficiently fed, pluck up fully grown trees and stuff them in their pockets suggests a high degree of technological advancement. This is further evidenced in Super Smash Bros., if that is to be taken at face value, to extend even to things such as dangerous blasts of energy and bombs with their wicks lit, which can remain stored indefinitely in the state in which they were pocketed until recalled on demand and used against their attacker. It seems like a void dimension exists in their pockets.
Considering Tom Nook and his nephews sell furniture that can be shrunk at a touch and transformed into leaves for easy storage and transport, because that leaf transformation is a magical feat associated with tanuki, and because all of the animals are capable of complex thought and intelligible speech, I believe that whatever species our player characters belong to are recent additions to a galactic community where the animal species are the ones that made such technology. Perhaps tanuki are high in the galactic hierarchy, or merely came up with the technology that the rest of the civilization came to use.
As for we normal humans, perhaps the skeleton and anatomical model are what they learned from the fossil record of our now extinct species.

I'm just a ghost.
We don't look human. Our characters don't really have fingers or toes. We could be an Alien.
Definitely thought we were human, but now questioning my existence.
