What would you consider to be the perfect balance of personalities?

Right now I have 2 crankies, 2 normals, 1 snooty, 1 sisterly, 1 peppy, 1 jock, 1 smug and one lazy. At one point I had 3 crankies and 3 normals and didn't have a jock. I've had both Stitches and Cole at the same time though the overlap in bug/food dialogue kind of put me off having that again. Also I had two peppies and thought their dialogue talking to each other was interesting.
If I ever had to not have a personality, I feel like I could probably go without a jock villager, bc they always seem to only talk about fitness which I'm not a big fan of.

So what is your balance of villagers?

I would say my dreamies list is basically determined by this concept. I designed it so that I would have my favourite of each personality, and then fill the other two with my favourite bird and favourite duck (two favourite species of mine). So all in all I guess my dreamies list isn't actually full of all of my favourite villagers, otherwise I imagine the personalities would be severely skewed!

My list is as follows

Katt
Willow
Bonbon
Gladys
Piper
Doc
Raymond
Genji
Bill
Kabuki

Bill and Piper are the 'extras' so to speak, so if I get all my dreamies, Mailbox will be slightly in favour of jock and peppy and perfectly gender balanced, but that's entirely incidental.

Right now I have one of each personality plus two cranky and two lazy islanders. The perfect combo for me, in the short term, would be at least one of each because I want to meet as many different animals as I can. At the same time, I will have two of each personality in rotation because I think there are special conversations between residents of the same personality. I've already encountered the ones between two cranky, two peppy and two jock animals, so I'll have to try for pairs of different personalities next.

When all that is done, I'll probably go for a final combo of two cranky, two lazy, two smug, two uchi, one peppy and one jock on my island. I'll leave the normal and snooty out because I find these personalities to be the least interesting.

I always end up with 1 of everyone (maybe no jocks), then an extra normal (so many good designs, inoffensive conversation) and an extra uchi/cranky/another normal lol

Like mylifeiscake, I can't bear more than one lazy in NH because the bug talk is too much, I've never really liked the jocks (although i have Hamlet atm and the constant abs talk is much more bearable when it's coming from a tiny fat hamster), and while i LOVE the peppy personality in NH it's too much to have all that weirdness from multiple villagers, imo

that said, i also want to make a girls only island paradise 🏝

a good balance would be to include all of the personality types, though I definitely have 2 of some of them:
2 snooty
2 smug
2 lazy
1 cranky
1 peppy
1 sisterly
1 jock

At the same time, I will have two of each personality in rotation because I think there are special conversations between residents of the same personality.
In NH, they divided each personality into two subtypes: A and B. This influences things like hobbies, voice pitch (for some personality types like cranky and snooty), and dialogue. However, it's only a small amount of dialogue that differs, and that dialogue only appears when you reach high friendship levels with a villager. Here's a document listing how each personality type is divided. Smug and uchi both are divided horribly imo and I really wish they would've balanced those two personalities a bit better. I'd keep 2 uchis on my island if there were more than 4 in subtype B, the only one of which I like is Sylvia.

For my own town, I want one of each personality type plus an extra cranky because it's my favorite. I haven't decided who I want for my last spot yet, but it'll most likely be another smug/lazy/snooty.

The list im trying to achieve at the moment has one of every personality, plus an extra normal and peppy. I was debating whether to switch Felicity out (as I already have Ruby as a peppy and the peppy talk does get tiring) but Felicity is too fun to dress up.

I like a great personality balance in the game, it keeps me from getting bored with villager conversations. If I based my dream list on design alone, it'd probably be mostly females. But without males it does get a little boring for me (like I used to only have 2 males and got absolutely bored having 3 normals talk about the same thing. I adopted 2 of the normals out and replaced them with males).

I have one of each personality + one extra normal & one extra smug.
As soon as I have all the peppy DIY's & reactions, I'll swap my peppy with a second snooty or cranky

I usually have:

1 jock
1 ucherly
1 cranky
1 snooty
1 normal
1 smug
2 peppy
2 lazy

Sometimes I'll go with two smugs or two normals and cut the lazies to one.

Right now I have at all times
1 jock
1 cranky
1 snooty
1 lazy
1 smug

Ideally I would have one more smug and a sisterly but I haven't found the exact ones yet. I can't decide on a peppy or normal so my other 5 plots are villagers I'm so cycling until I figure it out.

My lazy villager moved away so I am currently looking for another one and I have two smug, two crankies, and two peppy. I have a perfect balance of guys and girls. I also have two bears, and two sheep because I like both a lot

My current (and ideal) villager line-up is at least one of each personality type. I'm planning on keeping it this way even after I've gotten the last reaction from my snooty.

Design-wise, normal villagers are my favorite; however, from having Merengue and Goldie, both of whom have the nature hobby, the initial dialog does admittedly feel repetitive sometimes, so that's something I'll be wary of once I've gotten their photos.

Most of the DIY recipes I'm missing and really want come from cranky villagers, so I'll definitely move in another cranky when someone asks to move out next.

Peppy and jock villagers are a bit too high energy for me, so I'll probably stick to having only one of each on my island at any time.

My current lineup is:
  1. Katt / Sisterly
  2. Lily / Normal
  3. Flora / Peppy
  4. Lucky / Lazy
  5. Fang / Cranky
  6. Kid Cat / Jock
  7. Molly / Normal
  8. Bones / Lazy
  9. Phil / Smug
  10. Vivian / Snooty

I’m considering swapping out Lucky for another Cranky (probably Dobie), but I’m also attached to him... Bones would never go, and I love both of my other doubles (the normals). AND I want at least one of every personality 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don't like normal or jock, and find peppy to be very tiring so here is my perfect personality mix:
1 normal
1 peppy
1 snooty
1 sisterly
1 cranky
1 jock
2 smug
2 lazy

my ideal lineup would include at least one of each personality type but since i don’t like the smugs, love the normals and aren’t super fond of the crankies in this game, this’ll likely be what my completed dream lineup will look like:

3 normal
2 peppy
1 snooty
1 uchi
1 jock
2 lazy

I place heavy emphasis on this because I do want a variety of personalities and not a place where I have like 5 of the same because that can get boring quickly. Right now I am really enjoying the balance I have on my island.

I have:

2 crankies
2 lazies
2 snooty
1 peppy
1 normal
1 smug
1 jock

In NL I'd get at leat 1 of each type and then fill the rest of the open spots with villagers that I just like.
Now in NH I decided just to have villagers that I like and now I have:
5 normal
1 cranky
2 peppy
1 smug
1 lazy

Way to many normal... But they're so cute

Actually I have 2 Cranky, 2 Sisterly, 2 Jock, 1 Normal, 1 Lazy, 1 Snooty, 1 Smug.

My goal is to have 2 Cranky, 2 Sisterly, 1 Peppy, 1 Jock, 1 Normal, 1 Lazy, 1 Snooty, 1 Smug.
Simply because the Cranky and Sisterly personalities are my favorites... And also the less repeats the better.

I really miss having a Peppy on my island (I had 2 Peppy at some point), but for sure my next mission is to replace Scoot by Tabby.

I have not decided on my final lineup yet, but I think I am going to want at least 2 uchis and 2 peppies. I originally did not expect to like either of these personalities, but now they are my favorites. I have 3 peppies at the moment and so far don’t have a problem with that so far.

I have all the reactions and may ultimately end up going without a cranky

Potential ideal lineup for me might be:

1 jock
1 lazy
1 smug
2 peppy
2 uchi
2 normal
1 snooty

Instead of two normals or 2 uchis maybe I would potentially have another jock. The work out talk is not my favorite, but the jocks are so enthusiastic and fun that I could probably get past it. I could also see myself having 3 peppies long term as I just like a lot of the designs, and they are really fun to have on my island. I don’t know who my favorite normal (s) are yet.

If graham, my current smug ever leaves I don’t know if I would replace him, Cause I don’t know if I’d like another smug as much.

So still pretty undecided.
