The METAL thread! \m/

Here are a few Black Sabbath songs I listened to while I was walking earlier today:
When I tune in to one of them, I tend to play the other one right after. They really do tie well together, as these were some of Sabbath's lighter material. I relate quite a bit with Solitude, in terms of loneliness (which I think can be comforting). Planet Caravan seemed to be created with more room for interpretation in mind. It's generally considered space rock because it taps into the fascination of setting off on a voyage across the cosmos. However, I always found it to be somewhat melancholic in its sound. I've also seen it interpreted romantically, which would tie these two songs together even more if that's the case.

I always thought the "metal/rock is of the Devil" nonsense to be irritating, because you have these bands who often delved into themes completely unrelated to anything religious, yet the people decrying about this so-called "evil" music choose to hyper-focus on just the occult imagery. I'm going to add more songs to shown that this was never Black Sabbath's sole identity, soon.

Last week, this bombshell was announced:
Watching it via live stream, of course, will not be the same as physically being at the concert, but everyone around the world still gets to see this historical moment play out in real time, and that's good enough for me.

I'm sure everyone already knows what the song playing in the background is, or at least heard of it at some point, so here it is, again. Paranoid:

As of late, there have been various new Hard Rock and Metal bands popping up on Bandcamp (and elsewhere). Some even have photographs showing the members (along with their full names), but guess what? Not all of them are real!

I had a feeling this "band" was AI just by looking at their photograph:

I later confirmed that this is indeed an AI band.

But do they actually sound good? I don't know; I'm not interested in listening to music made by AI.

Watch out for potential phonies (especially if you're someone who actually cares to support the scene financially).

Peace out.

I find it sad that this is happening, especially for a music genre that's gotten enough crap from metal haters/elitists. :\

Is there an easy way to tell the difference between real and AI bands? I'm pretty sure the artists I listen to are legit (especially since most of them are mainstream), but I'd hate to find out I'm unintentionally supporting an AI "artist".

It's stupid, because just like artists, musicians spend a lot of time refining their technique. Just for blippety boop to squeak in with some fake sounds, that steal from them on top of everything else.

There's a pretty big group of people who avoid listening to new musicians as it is. This won't help convert them.

I'm pretty sure I just stumbled across an AI-generated image of Dave Mustaine, and just... Why? There are plenty of real images of him, I seriously don't get why you need to make one. It looks horrid, too. 😭

I didn't think AI would hit the metal scene again, yet here we are.

Yes; if they're a new band and have "velvet" in their name, then they're fake!

Just kidding.

While trying to dig up information on the aforementioned band, I found out about this one:

I was watching The Pick of Destiny and noticed something...

From "Beezleboss" by Tenacious D:
Yes, you are ****ed / **** outta luck
From "Hardwired" by Metallica:
We're so ****ed / **** outta luck

Those lyrics are really similar... I wonder if Metallica got inspired by Tenacious D. XD

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has watched any metal movies? If so, I would love some recommendations. I've only seen the aforementioned The Pick of Destiny, Heavy Metal, and the Metalocalypse movies.

I'm not much of a film buff, so I haven't really watched any.

On another note, my most listened to song of last week was Apocalyptica's "I'm Not Jesus" featuring Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour:

Still a powerful song.

Alright. I’ll just leave this here. RIP to the Prince of Darkness himself. I realize this one isn’t metal, and I know it’s prob not the one most peeps think of when they think of Ozzy, but it was the first one that came to mind when my mom texted me earlier today. The stage feels very empty today. Glad I had the chance to see him with my brother at Ozzfest back in 2006. Such an iconic legend.

After listening to St. Anger on my CD player, I can see why most metalheads and Metallica fans don't like this album. I personally don't think the snare drums are bad, but they're definitely loud. x_x

Even with the glaring snare drums, I really love this album! Purify sounds amazing, in my opinion.

I don't recall ever watching Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, but I've heard for awhile now (from Dee Snider himself) that Twisted Sister had a cameo in that film with the song, "Burn In Hell".

Finally decided to look the scene up!
