so it's currently almost 2;30am and yet again the internet has brought me to a strange place (awesome). tonight, it was discovering this so-called " mandela effect ". I shall paste in what this means / it's definition below.

" The “Mandela Effect” is what happens when someone has a clear memory of something that never happened in this reality.

Many of us — mostly total strangers — remember the exact same events with the exact same details. However, our memories are different from what’s in history books, newspaper archives, and so on.

This isn’t a conspiracy, and we’re not talking about “false memories.” Many of us speculate that parallel realities exist, and we’ve been “sliding” between them without realizing it. "

okay so part of me is like "cailey wut r u doing this is bs and you've been really sick for the past week and it's nearly 2;30am" the other part is like "dude we totally love paranormal freaky stuff like this it's possible omg!!1!1!"..... * sigh *

now, I'll link you to some common memories people believe in / remember from one of the many websites made on this specific "movement" below (you can also find more on your own time, this is all over)

>> mandela effect - major memories <<

one of these that I seriously, without a doubt, hands DOWN REMEMBER is the >> berenstEIN bears memory << .... like I actually grew up on all these books & shows & UGH! I am one of the many poor souls who actually remembers seeing the name as berenstEIN not berenstAIN! the name change isn't even stated anywhere but on some youtube videos and such I've looked at, some people actually have some of the really old books and tv guides and they even say berenstEIN on it but there's only a couple things out there that say that but all older books and shows have had the name changed yet the authors never re-called there being a change of any sort. I just am very good with grammar, etc. and remember reading these / having them read to me and I clearly remember it being berenstEIN and not knowing whether to pronounce it like berenstEIN or berenstEEN... just little things like that so this theory kinda catches my attention a lot.

not even just brands, or events, or tv shows - this can occur when you swear you remember being somewhere or doing something with your family (or just any memory) and you bring up that memory and no one else but you recalls it but like you KNOW it happened, you KNOW you went to that concert with your family or whatever it was and you remember certain buildings and dialogue, etc. etc. yet when you bring it up everyone's like like "uh what're you talking about weirdo" cUZ YEAH I HAVE TONS OF THOSE TOO ANd it's not like it was just a dream or something ;; it's just strange And unsettling I guess!

ah, idk, I just HAD to start a thread on this. I just discovered this is a thing and I'm so confused. people are literally bringing "parallel universes" into the picture and while I'm not totally "bashing" that idea, I'm not even like... surprised about this being possible. on the other hand, others believe that it's just human memory having flaws and us legitimately reading / hearing / believing things wrong, but I would like to hear your opinions on this topic.

* again, I'm not saying I totally buy into this whole thing, but I'm not gonna trash the idea either. but hey, maybe that's just me! I just think this whole topic is pretty interesting, and with just now discovering it I wanted to spark some conversation about it with y'all.

* there's way more out there on this topic than I provided - before posting, try and research more, watch the youtube videos on each memory, read articles, etc. even if it's not believable or "possible" or whatever, it's interesting nonetheless :)

I remember most of these, like the Curious George having a tail one... I remember different dates for things having happened that aren't correct, and I often also switch colors and remember things having been in mirror to what they really are.. like if I watch a show I have seen before, the set up of the room will all be opposite and I'll comment on it to whomever I am watching it with, and they tell me that it's always been that set up. I also have many personal memories that everyone says are false, usually they are really simple things too, like one I still remember was my dad coming and getting me and my sister and taking us to an ice cream shop at night when I was really young and he used to come and visit us every once in a while, but my mom said he never did that, that if he did ever come get us he'd get us in the morning and all he'd do is take us out and buy us something like shoes and then he wouldn't come back for another year. But I distinctly remember seeing him and my ice cream and my sister holding his other hand and us walking by a pink striped building where I grew up...

I don't recall any strange parallel memories effecting me. As for the Berenstein thing I do not remember clearly if it was "Berenstain" or "Berenstein" as I was very very little at the time. For someone who has been through freaky encounters and experiences I can't recall for the life of me of ever experiencing parallel events. The weird thing is that I KNOW I have before but WHY can't I remember it? It's like I have a few chunks of my life gone blank.

Regarding you example.. I always went with some kind of german pronunciation.. like "aih-n" rather than "eih-n".. it's a bit hard to explain in phonetics but you get the idea..

and yeah happens with me all the time.. sometime we all have idealized memories.. maybe we want em to stay that way. that **** is hella interesting too esp. in a political context.

im p sure its messing with our minds because i had to think for a second too and was like ?? the reason most think its 52 is because they think its 50 continental states and then count Hawaii and Alaska as 2 more, therefor making 52

Looking back at the site I totally remember land masses in different places on the globe distinctly...

I love reading about this stuff!! After looking at that list, I remembered about half of those incorrectly and there have definitely been things that I distinctly remember happening but nobody in my family can remember. I never thought about the Mandela Effect and just assumed I must've been dreaming all those times, though.

I think a lot of those cases, like the Berenstein Bears one, can be easily explained by faulty memory, but I don't think it's totally impossible that parallel universes could be tied to their explanations either (maybe just because I think that's a really cool thought).

I think it's just a mind fckery type thing. They're bringing up things you know you long forgot about or really didn't care to remember.
I never really watched the berinstain Bears. I hated that show. I do "think" I remember seeing it with a e than a 'a'. It feels like a nostalgia feeling but I also remember switching the channel as soon as it came on so my memory is faint.

I also remember it being jif(short for jiffy).

I think I remember some type of theory speaking more about your brain being in a simulator and if you feel like you're going through Deja vu you're glitching.

Okay YES. I love the theory of the mandela effect, although it really does scare me in the process. I spent an entire night reading through the website that you had linked like last August and I was beguiled by all of it. On a Tumblr post, I saw the Berenstein Bears thing and ever since then I've been all about mandela effect theories.

I grew up with PBS kids every day of my life, and I've watched the Berenstein Bears more times than I can count. I know well that it was the Berenstein Bears, not 'Berenstain.' That just sounds weird. I specifically remember because sometimes as a child I would ask my mom why it's pronounced like that when it's spelled strange. I had tons of books and everything and I know for certain.

So after I thought about it long enough it creeped me out and I delved farther into the theories and I found that there were other memories I had that weren't reality. One of the big ones is 'Charles Shulz's name was remembered being spelled Shultz.' Dude, I was so creeped out when I saw that it was spelled Shulz because I thought it was Shultz my whole life? Also, another apparent common misconception is that when Darth Vader says 'Luke, I am your father' he apparently actually says 'No, I am your father' and I haven't even seen Star Wars and knew it wasn't the latter.

I've tested my friends with a bunch of these theories and some of us would end up being in the same universe. There was also another one that I thought was interesting which was 'was chartreuse the color yellow/green or red/purple?' I feel like I had a purple crayon named chartreuse, not going to lie. My friends thought I was really weird at first but when I started quizzing them they were getting the same results as me.

Another one that messed with me was this one:

Fred Rogers’ song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” – Some recall “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” In this reality, it’s “It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood.”? (See http://www.neighborhoodarchive.com/music/songs/wont_you_be_my_neighbor.html and https://youtu.be/zMUGJZrR9Jg.)

I swear, it really was 'It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.'
And this is one of the ones that messes with me the most:

Mirror, Mirror – In “Snow White,” did the evil queen say “Mirror, mirror…” or “Magic mirror…”? (In Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Queen says, “Magic mirror.”)

I swear, it was never 'magic mirror' at all. I clearly remember 'mirror, mirror' and her lips moving to match the words exactly as they were spoken.

Really, I find all of this quite interesting and would love to go deeper. I'm definitely from a different universe if it exists. ;)

ALSO, I just saw what you said about the jiffy peanut butter thing. This one I am also creeped out by because I swear I remember seeing jiffy AND jif?

I loved Berenstain Bears when I was little. I never realized it was spelled Berenstain?? I also recall seeing jiffy, but never seen jif. This is kind of blowing my mind too wtf

I always thought Curious George had a tail... I always thought that it was 'Jiffy' and not Jif...

It's always been "Jif" peanut butter.I remember the old commercials with the slogan "Choosy moms always choose Jif".People are probably confusing it with Jiffy Pop Popcorn. And it's always been "Berenstain Bears".Those books were written by Stanley and Jan Berenstain.

Before this thread gets closed or something:

Don't we have dreams that aren't like dreams you remember? As in, you don't remember them at all. What if we're having dreams, then years later we remember them, and because it's a dream, no one else recalls it? I'm just a huge dummy with science etc. but it's just a thought XD

We have 2-10 dreams every night but sometimes we just don't remember them at all.
