I've been plot resetting for Caroline. She kicked out Big Top and naturally she beelines toward his spot instead of the 3x3 spot I carefully picked for her. :T

Big Top's spot is awful because I plan on having the lighthouse there. Obviously I don't want Caroline over there, but she refuses to cooperate with me.

Is this normal? Or am I just unlucky? D:

Anyone else dealt with amiibo villagers being magnetically attached to the plot of the previous villager they kicked out?

It's bad luck. Just make sure there's room for her elsewhere to move, and put patterns down where Big Top was, if you can.

Amiibo villagers DO often display a preference for the booted villager's spot. Just keep trying! Eventually, they will move.

Well see, I used Wisp to force Big Top out, so I can't place any patterns where he is because as soon as 6am hits, his house is gone and Caroline's plot instantly replaces him. The area where I want Caroline to be isn't affected by any buffer zones(bridges, other houses, cliffs, pwps, etc.), so I'm not sure why she's ignoring it.

Guess I'll keep trying. (?・_・`)

I haven't yet tried with the amiibo method, but I can relate with regular resetting. I have 2 big open spaces on my map but the animals always choose weird cramped little spaces. Soo tedious.

Well my suffering ended quick! Caroline landed exactly where I wanted her! Thankfully it only took ten tries.

Now for my very last villager, Plucky. Hopefully she won't be glued to where Timbra was.. ; v ; (and I can finally get these ugly patterns out of my town lmao all I see are stag beetle flags, trees, and random flowers @_@)

Oh same, it's like hell on earth sometimes lmao. I'm so glad that villagers no longer move on paths/patterns, it makes life so much easier :'D

It's a very weird system. Sometimes they're practically glued to the old villager's spot, and sometimes they refuse to land there.

I noticed it's a bit tedious to move the houses in an ideal spot if you're moving them in the same area like in the same spot but you just want them to move one or two spaces horizontally or vertically from the previous house that was just taken out so you need a larger space (4x4, 5x5 or so, instead of 3x3) to make some leeway. I've experienced this when I was trying to line up the houses I'd still take that little inconvenience over them moving on top of paths or anything before the update.

It has taken up to 20 times for them to finally move for me, but they did eventually. Just gotta keep trying!

The new update helps TONS with placing paths to guide them though <3

OMG really? I had no idea. You've made me one happy mayor especially as I have to plot reset tomorrow for Julia. :)

Does having fruit/bells/furniture on the ground have the same effect as patterns or will animals move on top of them like with flowers?

I'm virtually certain villagers will still take out items on the ground and also trees & flowers. The Japanese Twitter from Nintendo specifically showed Nook apologising for moving onto paths and that he wouldn't do so in the future (or something like that).
Maybe someone will post the link? (I'll try & find it)

Well I got super lucky with Plucky. (heh)
Turns out Timbra moved out naturally, so I was able to plot Plucky on the first try.

Now to remove allllllll my 1039385920 patterns I placed around town...
This will be fun... ಠ~ಠ

If I border a 3x3 space with patterns for marking purposes, will that spot still be eligible for plots? Or does the game avoid patterns now by multiple tiles? I've plot reset 10 times now with none of the spots picked.
