Look! I bred a hybrid lily! (j/k I take no credit for this. This is one of the few plants I haven't managed to kill. I leave it alone and it keeps coming back each year.)

Today was the first day I saw a squirrel eat a mushroom. I didn’t know they could do that, so I looked it up and apparently they can even eat some mushrooms that are poisonous to humans! Guess they get sick of acorns sometimes.

Whenever I see a hummingbird bully a butterfly away from a flower…I feel bad for it. I don’t know how smart hummingbirds are, but butterflies seem like such innocent babies to me, that it’s weird to see a hummingbird chase it away. It’s rough out there lol.

Went out to watch the Perseid meteor shower tonight! I saw 3 shooting stars (1 out of the corner of my eye but the other 2 directly) and then I noticed a weird long “cloud” in the sky so I investigated with long exposure and…

AAAAAAAAAA!!!! I heard there was a solar storm, but I didn’t expect to be able to catch it from home!! What a blessing

Got to see some great storms with my boyfriend yesterday! Complete with some mammatus clouds. Getting a picture was hard but it still looks cool.

I left some apple slices from the turtle that visits and he/she had a few good CHOMPS! Later I went outside and saw some big bite marks in the apple.

Since it's mushroom season and all, I thought I'd share these cool mushrooms I saw in our yard the other day!! This one was beautiful—I wish I'd gotten a picture of it the day before, before it opened up. The cap was a gorgeous, almost metallic-looking bronze and I swear it looked a lot like the Elegant Mushroom in ACNH.

There was also this big fella who I think was unfortunately too heavy and had fallen over... look at those gills though! Wish I could've seen it upright.

And on my quest for mushroom photos, I encountered a yellow-striped armyworm! First time seeing one I think (there's another kind of moth caterpillar around here that accounts for almost all the caterpillars I see); they grow into really pretty moths.

I'm also starting to see one of my favorite wildflowers!! I start seeing them usually around autumn, so I was delighted to find a little patch of them nearby. If anyone recognizes these and knows what they're called, I'd love to know—I can't find them in searches to save my life akjfldkgksj

I saw a black squirrel (melanistic gray squirrel) today! And no, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just the lighting!

A sparrow moved into the wooden birdhouse I put up. Sometimes it leaves, comes back with a bunch of twigs, and stuffs them inside! Hope they’re staying nice and warm.
