Doesn't it look like an ant? Anytime I look at it, all I see is an ant's head. I know it's supposed to be devil horn-ish but it's too ant-like.

Am I crazy or what.

Well if it helps in Japanese it's called デビルなかぶりもの.

Which is Devil's headgear according google translate. If I had the choice I would call it Devil's hood or Devil's cap. But you can't have an item with "devil" in the name in a kid friendly game for the English localization without some sort of backlash.

When I first saw them I was reminded of this old Mexican tv show I watched as a kid, "El Chapulin Colorado" ("the red grasshopper"). His hood looks so similar.

The hoods in this game are very oddly shaped but the imp one has always looked like an ant to me. It just does not look very impish. I am confused why they didn't just put little horns on it like most depictions of an imp have.

OK so I was 100% confused on what you were talking about. For a second I thought this was talking about the Magic-Academy Hood, and I was like - how does this look like an ant?? But then I looked up the item and ... yep total ant hat. I would absolutely pair either color up with the rainbow caterpillar costume for the maximum bug's life effect.

I thought the exact same thing! I was going to recreate my bee outfit from new leaf using it, but the black one has never shown up in my store since the very beginning when I bought the red one by mistake

I like the imp hoods! They make me think of vintage costumes. Obv they're not as glamourous as this but I think they're fun

Yes! I also thought it was an ant or bug related when I first saw it haha. I am surprised they went for a hood instead of horns for that set.
