Do you engage with the follow feature? For any specific purpose?

I don't take it too seriously. I decided to follow everybody who had followed me. (And will probably continue using it that way).

I could see it being important if somebody wanted to limit who sees their profile.

random gif that I thought of.

I tend to follow almost everyone on the forums because during most of the time, I don’t allow those who I’m not following to post on my profile. I don’t believe in using the ignore feature. There’s no privacy settings that simply block people from viewing/posting if they’re simply on your ignore list, and it makes my browsing less pleasant when posts are missing. So I set it to people I follow only and follow many people.

I don't have a lot of people I follow, but even if I don't follow you it doesn't mean anything. There are so many wonderful members on here that I really enjoy them being part of the forum and seeing their post content whether it's daily or a bit more sporadic. I follow members when I get a followed notification. Usually when someone follows me it's because we both get along really well anyway and I don't see the harm in doing it anyway.

I don't really take following seriously. If someone wants to follow me I'll follow back. Its not a feature like on Twitter that really means anything. I will follow NPCs just for fun though. Especially this guy right here.

Edit: I realised that I didn't follow Whale Shark!!! Added immediately.

I follow back people who follow me, and I followed a bunch of people at the end of Space Camp that I liked because I figured it was forum etiquette, IDK. I've never fully understood the feature since it's not like social media.

I follow people I like and happy to return if anyone wants to follow me. Never honestly understood but it’s nice. I do like seeing what friends are posting about on the your news section 💜

The logic of whether or not I follow someone is largely random. I don't really use the feature so I follow if I feel like it in the moment.

I don't really follow anyone tbh, at least nowadays. Anyone I follow already is because I think it used to work as adding friends before they changed things?

Considering I'm following over 350 members and over 350 members are following me, yeah, I do use it a lot. 😂

I basically just use it like everyone else here does though. If I have a positive interaction with someone or am interested in befriending them, I'll follow them. And usually people follow back afterwards. It's really not a huge deal since this isn't like social media (which I despise...).

I tend to follow people who I've had nice interactions with a few times, or have established friendships with. I will say though that I can't remember like, probably more than half of them... A good handful of them came from 2015 and 2017 when I was most active. There was a friend list/request system prior to the follow function as well, and I think they all just converted to members mutually following each other when they revamped the forums. 🤔 Following doesn't really do much else for me other than what I stated above though.

Only for a few friends. I do have other friends on here (that are sadly inactive), but I didn't follow all of them for no reason.

If anyone did follow me, then I appreciate it since my notifications for it is off and I can't tell at all, since I don't check my profile page often.

@ZeldaCrossing64 said it best in how I feel about it.

I like to follow users I've grown an interest in or started befriending. I know it doesn't do much besides show their posts in the Your news section (which I almost never check 😭), but I see it as like telling someone, "I like you and I think you're cool" or "I consider you my friend".
I appreciate so many of you, and since I don't really understand why the follow feature is there, I like to think it is my way of saying I respect you and I consider you a friend!

I don't tend to follow people easily, because of a couple of bad experiences that came from becoming mutuals with people I'd had brief interactions with on other websites, as a teenager. Even though I'm an adult now, and I know that kind of thing is unlikely to happen here, I'm still wary.

I'd likely follow someone if I had a few good conversations with them. Since I'm not good at starting/carrying conversations, that's probably why I don't really have internet friends nowadays 🫠
