I didn't see a thread on this anywhere, so I figured why not. What are your thoughts on what happened? Think it didn't deserve all the attention it gathered?
Personally, I feel that way. But on the other hand I feel sorrow for Caylee, because she deserved justice, and it was not done.

I'm not entirely certain of the details... Don't know whether she should've gone to prison or not, but I hope they made the right choice.

Rest in peace, Caylee.

First of all on the trial:

There were no witnesses to say that it wasn't an accident, and all of their information and evidence was circumstantial on the case. This kind of thing happens every day and who are we as people to say that she's lying? We don't know the woman and neither does anyone else that talks about it. Now, considering the evidence was all circumstantial, it was foolish for them to try and push first degree murder, because even a pre-law student could see that they were screwing themselves over. Once first degree has been tried, that person may never be tried for first degree murder on the same case again, therefore if they find further evidence then it's useless, she's already off the hook.

Second of all on the publicity:

The case is something like I said: that happens every day. This case just happened to gather a lot of publicity from ill educated people because of the mystery around the severity of the accusations. It happened, it's over, and it's time to let Casey out of her spotlight.

I don't know anything about the trial since I didn't watch it/keep up with it, but reminder: innocent until proven guilty.

Casey Anthony is a Florida woman (She actually lives not three blocks from me) that was arrested for the murder of her infant child. The case made headlines because there were no witnesses, and because of the fact that she lied to the police when questioned. Now, if you've ever met the Orlando cops, you'd know that A) they're not trustworthy to begin with and B) If you want to survive in this town you don't know anything. She was tried as not guilty.

I recommend googling the case if you want to get updated on it.

I'm sick to my ass of hearing about this. All these self-righteous *******s who are so certain that she is guilty and with the media goading them on.

Our judicial system is not beholden to the under-informed people across the nation. It comes down to the jury, and they had a reasonable doubt that the evidence proved her guilt. Are we really expected to suspend the procedures of justice just because a particular case has resonance with people, conversant or not?

That's the thing. With the evidence provided the Jury was not LEGALLY allowed to find her guilty. It was all CIRCUMSTANTIAL evidence.

At this rate, I don't see a potential flame war...

...unless someone brings political or religious views into the mix.

And inb4 "OMG U HEARTLESS U NO CARE ABOUT SERIOUS MURDER U CARE ABOUT FLAEM WARE"

So just in case,
I don't know what happened exactly, and no one else does except the people who were involved or witnessed the murder, given that any other people are involved.

I'm getting annoyed at the people who are all screaming that she is guilty when they probably didn't even watch the trial at all. The Judicial system works off of evidence and eyewitnesses, there were none for this case.

I'm getting tired of hearing about the trial, as well. It's all anyone seems to talk about anymore, unfortunately. Since that trial started, nothing good has been on the channels I watch on TV. However, I did watch and "keep up", I suppose you could say, with this trial since day one. You can thank my mom watching good ol' Nancy Grace for that one. I don't normally keep up with these kinds of things, but it grabbed my attention, so I decided I'd keep up with what was going on.

As for my thoughts on whether she did or didn't commit the crime, I never had an actual decision until the trial ended, oddly enough. I've been asking myself, why would any parent or grandparent, or anyone, for that matter, cover up an accident to look like a murder? If Caylee did drown, like Casey and her defense team claim, why didn't she just call the for help? Why did she go out and party for those 31 days, and make up the entire, Zanny the Nanny story? Plus, I believe George, the grandfather would have called for help to try and save his granddaughter. You can tell how much he loved that little girl, and still does to this day. In my opinion, I do believe she did it, but I got that opinion after I saw all the evidence that wasn't shown before to the public.

Either way, acting like a crazy maniac, like some people are, over the verdict isn't going to solve anything. Like prosecutor Jeff Ashton stated: If you want to honor Caylee, honor her in a positive way. Don't "honor" her by hunting her mother down.

I was actully on holiday in florida when the started the trial we got up every morning heading for the parks or pool and we would wait to watch and see if anything happened but we left while the trail was still on but i dont find it fair that she got away with murdered and was only fined for lying to the police

We passed by the building that she was being led out of when we were in Florida. Was a pretty crazy mob. We didn't go anywhere near it.

I don't really have an opinion on this due to the fact that I don't really care.

How could you pass by it if you didn't go anywhere near it?

The expectations of TBT having massive flame wars need to go away.

I think most of the main members that go on the General Discussion areas now are mature enough not to spout racism or flame or just flat out be an ass.
