The ACNH Rant Thread

This game is virtually unplayable with a Switch 1 now. The framerate drops all the time despite having barely decorated or terraformed. It legit makes my head hurt with the insane stuttering and lag. Even if I only walk through my island it's enough to make the game almost die. (God forbid if it's windy on your island, which it almost always is).

The Switch 1 is just so disposable. Nobody deserves to still be using it in 2026.

I still have mine but I'm getting the controls lag a bit

Why, though? Can't a girl pay off her incline fees without limitation nonsense?

So, I have my own rant I gotta share. I just did a reset of my full island. I knew I would fall back to 3 stars. But I feel like this update is a bit of a letdown because since we all have phones in the game. Why can't we call our villagers? And why can't we invite the tourists to stay at our island? Like I saw Carrie the other day and I remembered her

Why is it that when you dig up a flower when your pockets are full, that you only have the option to swap, or bury it. Why can't you just replant the darn thing?
This reminds me of something. I can't remember how it went, but I think I dug up a tree. I didn't mean to so I wanted to put it back. My shovel breaks so it gives me an error saying you can't bury the tree! I proceed to bury the hole in with my feet (without a shovel) and then the game lets me plant the tree. It makes no sense lol!

Plus why can't we get other fruits from villagers instead of relying on our friends?

(I mean no disrespect to anyone)
Apparently it's to force people to play with others. When I reset my town I had to send fruit to my son's town which he really does not play just so I could have all five. I've tried the social thing in video games and aside from Minecraft with my own kids I just don't enjoy that aspect. I have real life friends who don't play video games so I socialize with them and play games on my own. As it is, sometimes a villager visits and gives you a piece of fruit, which is always your sister fruit also found on Nook Mile islands. And especially since receiving Nook miles are connected to each fruit It should just have easily been programmed that it could be any type of fruit.

Perfecting snow boys in this game is a bit tricky, not gonna lie. >_<

I have a good idea of the head-to-body ratio: The head has to be slightly smaller than the body, but man, I have to be just right for it to count towards the snowboy Nook Miles. >_<

I don’t really even care about the DIYs anymore. I stopped getting them even after making perfect snowboys. I just wanted all of the nook miles achievements for the snowboys before the snow goes away on Wednesday.

I'm annoyed at how bad villager dialogue is now. I hope it'll improve by a lot as time goes on
I just feel you on this. There is still some nice dialogue to be discovered, but generally, it is very bland. I praise WW because villagers were extremely emotional in the three dimensional in it. I want to go back to those days.

I don’t necessarily want villagers to be over-the-top MEAN (especially when you have a high friendship with them).

But I wouldn’t mind them starting off as cold or even slightly rude (at least the cranky and snooty villagers) when you first meet them.

It takes a bit of judging it just right. Back in 2020 I was a pro at it and I was wondering why everyone was struggling since I did them without fail. So the top needs to be lower than your head. And the bottom needs to be like at the top of your eyeball level/forehead. Hope that helps!

thank you! I’ll try this over the next final few days we have left of the snow ^_^

I know this is a cultural thing in Japan but that kid running around with snot hanging out of her nose and sneezing all over the place is just disgusting. I bought a few turnips to rot for the ants and I'll buy some again for that container that needs them but she's just too gross to buy any more.

I wanted to wait and see what happened in my game before commenting on this. I don't have scads of decorations but DO have a five-star rating, 10 villagers plus four from the hotel. I do not have any scanned amiibos nor do I have the DLC. So far I haven't had a single instance of lagging. What does your game have that mine doesn't?

This game sure has a faulty random number generator. Sometimes, after you leave a mystery island, you return back to the same island you just left two islands ago.

Unless something specifically gets ruled out for a certain time that's exactly now RNG works. It's just like when I've gone villager hunting on islands and I get the same villager three times out of eight.

I HAATE it when I need to give something to a villager, but I can’t because they are crafting, fishing, etc. Would it have been TOO hard to still add a “This is for you” interaction -.-

Edit: So, I looked into this some more. You can give them packages after they tell you what they are crafting. Almost six years in, and there is STILL stuff I’m learning about this game. 😅

I am at least happy it was a recipe I didn’t already have, so I didn’t get a duplicate shoved down my throat.

If you talk to them after they give you the card you can gift them. Even so, when fishing it would be really nice. And also while they're sitting down--outside was a thing before 3.0, I recall specifically villagers getting up off the ground for you to talk to them and hand over gifts. However I don't know how many times I've ended up going outside and coming back in to try to catch them before the plop.

The only time I could not give them a gift or talk to them was when they were cooking and I hadn’t learned how to cook yet.

If you keep talking to them when they are fishing I think it’s 3 times. You can then give them a gift. I really wish I could give them a gift when they are sitting.
