Maybe this has been discussed, I dunno. But I loved it in New Leaf when you would encounter a villager in a dream that you had in your own village, and they would recognize you and say something like, "It's so strange to see you in this dream! What are you doing here? What am I doing here?" Here, they don't recognize you at all and I don't like it.

that bites. i typically don’t talk to villagers while dreaming but it’s sad that that small detail didn’t make the cut this time around ;u;

Uhh, who even dreams to find their own villagers? Thats not the goal of dreams. To me its pointless and i dont have an issue with such small irrelevant features to be removed

I noticed that too. If I happen to see my own villagers on a dream island (I don't try to find them on purpose), ill talk to them but yeah they don't recognise me at all which is a little sad :(

personally i don't think it makes sense to go on a totally different island to find yourself encountering your own villagers on there who recognizes who you are. seems kinda strange. 🧐

like i have marshal but if i'm exploring a dream address island from someone on twitter who also happens to have him, i would not expect this marshal to be my marshal. which would explain why this other island marshal wouldn't have a clue as to who i am. if that makes any sense at all.

I would see what you were saying we were just talking about visiting a regular island, of course they shouldn’t recognize you then, but the entire thing about a dream island is it’s a dream. All sorts of weird things happen in dreams. I mean in both NL and NH if you talk to the villagers in a dream island they all comment on that fact! The snooties get upset that their house is so realistic because in a dream world they should be able to have a huge palace. The peppies tell you to try really hard not to forget about meeting them when you wake up from the dream. Personally I agree with OP, I love this kind of self-aware humor and thought it was a really cute touch in NL.

it doesn't have to be a goal, but chances are if you dream hop enough, someone will have the same villager(s) that you do

especially if your town includes popular ones

also, dreams in animal crossing have a goal?

Aww that’s sad that they’ve omitted that detail! I also noticed that the villagers and Luna don’t talk in the dream like voice like that did in new leaf with the ambient music. The experience is not the same. That being said I love the blurred screen and purple dreaming clouds

People will come across islands with the same villagers as them without even looking. The OP missed a cute quirk and they should be able to express that here without someone else trying to dismiss their feelings like this.

Unbelievably rude. And why are you telling someone else what their goal of dreaming should be?? Why is there a goal now?

Anyway, I agree with OP, when you went random dreaming in NL and happened to find your own villager there, the immersion felt real because they recognised you. It's the little things that make Animal crossing so great.
