So the 5th installment of the Terminator series premiered today in movie theaters. For those of you that saw it, what did you think of it? I just finished watching Terminator Salvation and the 3 ones before that over the course of 2 weeks in preparation to see it. I plan to see it with my dad either tomorrow or this weekend. Discuss everything about the movie here. :D

BUMP

How come no one's posted D:

Does this movie not exist in your worlds? It's not like it's one of those movies nobody knows about

I was going to see it today but when we got to the cinema and looked at the showing times, my friend would have had to leave for work half way through. We're gonna watch it on Tuesday instead.

So now I'm gonna watch all the Terminator movies again (except Salvation. Screw Salvation) and get hyped with an Arnie movie marathon over the weekend.

I saw this movie after work today. It was really great. I'd definitely recommend it.

That's nice to hear. Thank you. My dad and I still haven't seen it yet, but I plan on it this weekend either tomorrow or Sunday. :D

Yeah! Without getting into spoilers, the timeline is kind of weird but aside from that, I think the action sequences were good. They made some nice references to the first 2 movies. They definitely could have done more with Arnold's role but I'll take what's given. Genysis is hands down better than Salvation.
Salvation doesn't exist. lolo

As long as we're talking about Terminator, what was wrong with Salvation? Like I don't get all the hate for it. I think it was a pretty good movie??

just watched this movie last week, and it's the first Terminator movie I've seen, and I think it's really cool heheh great movie!!!

I saw it yesterday.

It's okay I guess. Arnie was good (as usual). Can't really say much else about it. I've seen worse movies.

The only thing wrong with Terminator Salvation was the part between the opening credits and ending credits.

I heard its a non-stop action movie. Seems interesting if you love "non- stop action"

it was kind of crappy
i don't really care about any of the other terminator movies anyway so i wasn't expecting to enjoy this one too much

Got so bored I took notes about why I didn't like it. The action was great, though.

Idk I guess I'm just not that picky about movies. As long as it wasn't horrendous I don't get upset.

Although now that I think about it Salvation was my least favorite Terminator movie. There wasn't really any plot to it like there was in the first three and in Genysis.

Anyway, I just saw the movie yesterday at the theatres and it was awesome! I love all the references to the first couple movies and how this one ends. Especially at the beginning where old Arnie fights younger Arnie

Although I'm pretty sure this 5th installment is the last one, probably. I mean, they blew up Skynet in Genysis before it started after they had reset the future throughout the movie series, TWICE. Plus, Arnold is getting pretty old, so yeah, there's that...

Compared to some of the other movies out in Theatres right now though it's not bad.

Apparently they're planning on making another trilogy with Genysis as the first of them.

It's pretty obvious they've left it open for a sequel. The ending pretty much screamed "there's a sequel coming" with Arnie walking in all liquid metal and stuff. It also leaves it open for Arnie to be able to do another since with the liquid metal T-800, they can use a lot more CGI with him to compensate for his aging body not being able to physically do as much (which I don't really look forward to).

Plus they 'stopped' Skynet in Terminator 2, as well as Terminator 3 essentially saying "do what you want, you can't stop this from happening, only postpone the inevitable". Essentially, they can and will find a new way to keep the plot going even though they've stopped Skynet/Genysis. The fact that the liquid metal vats survived (as evidenced by Arnie being alive) leaves it open for something to happen, as well as Arnie still being alive meaning that the chip and the terminator skeletons are still existent (which is the whole plot of Terminator 2).

They also have the possibility of a prequel, with a younger Sarah Connor during the events told in Genysis where the T-1000 comes to kill her at the cabin as a child and the T-800 coming to save her. There's definitely enough for a movie there.

Though I'm just kinda getting to the point where I want them to leave the franchise alone, at least with sequels (I think a prequel like the one I mentioned would work). Genysis was a decent enough movie (though nowhere near the best), I just think they can't go much further with new models of Terminator without the next movie just sending back a friggin' Gundam to kill the Connor's. It's getting stupid even for a movie about time traveling and robots.

They could entirely reboot it but lets be honest, that would just fail without Arnie, even if the reboot is genuinely good. He is the terminator in the same way Al Pachino is Scarface, Stallone is Rocky or RDJ is Ironman.

I went to go and see this the other night with my dad. I love all the other movies, and I certainly love this one too. Great cast, especially Arnold and Emilia - really loving Emilia as Sarah Conner! I thought everything was great about it, even the Doctor playing as Skynet xD
Did you guys stick around to the mid-credit scene? If you haven't seen it I won't spoil it, but it hints at what happened to Skynet!
