SWIMMING?!!

Considering it was a new feature in New Leaf, I have no doubt that they’re gonna add it in with a future update. It just seems weird to go backwards like that in the feature department so yeah. I would not be surprised if they added it back in.

I hope that they add it! One of my favorite things about new leaf was going to the island with my friends and going diving.

Am I the only one who legit hated diving? I hated the breath mechanic and how fast the stupid octopus was. I only liked it because it meant I could jump in the ocean to get across a river mouth instead of having to go back to the incline, cut through the entire town, and back down the other incline. With the pole vault and the ability to make 8 bridges and stepping stones wherever I want, I don't need to be wearing an ugly wetsuit over all my outfits.

If they refined it so it was less frustrating and more fun I'd be into diving coming back.

They’re bringing it back and you can use a submarine, have an underwater house and can move your octopi villagers to underwater homes . . . is what I wish I could say. I assume it’ll be back at some point.

A data miner found referenced to diving in the code, so it seems likely that they’ll add this in a summer update!

How can we live on an island surround by big water ocean water but not be able to swim and dive into it? You think nintendo will add this feature?
I LOVE the swimming feature in the old game. I hope it returns and I believe it will cuz of that dock. Plus I tried to add Leila and the game said she was already there.

It was also a good way to get thought bubbles to ping in New Leaf. Something about the distance and time you were away from your villagers if I remember right.

Because Nintendo is saving it for a big PR boost..
Should have just called the game “Animal Crossing Greenlight Edition” cause it’s essentially what it is, but I have no doubt we’ll get swimming and diving back around the time kids go on summer break.

I didn’t hate it but didn’t really mind it very much. I honestly didn’t dive too much, tbh. If it’s back, I hope they add more depth (lol) to that feature

I was expecting swimming to make a return. I'm not sure why they'd remove that feature.

i mean wasn't there a glitch where you could walk on the ocean? and the only ways to get out is using "save and quit" or rescue service

I can guarantee that diving will be return at some point. Most likely the summer update. It would seem fitting for it to add it then

Edited because the format of my post kind of got messed up, but anyway...

Honestly, I kind of agree with you. I did like the act of swimming itself and found the experience enjoyable and mesmerizing because it was something never done before that I was able to do in any of the AC games I played before New Leaf. However, when it came time to catching all of the deep sea creatures, it became less fun and more frustrating for me. The breathing mechanic, the speed of some of the rarer deep sea creatures (like the red king crab) and the Nintendo logic of being unable to swim under a barricade that is on the surface of the water when you're trying to chase said creatures was aggravating for me and it took away from my experience. It made me almost never swim again. However, I did at least like using the wetsuit to traverse through my town a little easier and actually found it convenient. Regardless, I don't miss swimming in this game as much as other people and I do agree that I'd probably welcome diving more if they did refine it to make it less frustrating.

They will update it just in time for all the pools to stay closed for summer.
