Swimming trick for PWP not working?

I've been doing the wetsuit trick to get extra PWPs and it worked perfectly well the first 3 times,
but now I'm not getting pinged by anyone anymore?
I didn't get a PWP yet, only catchphrase change and random talking.
I litterally run in front of all my villagers outside and got pinged by no one.
I tried it 2 extra times and still nothing.
Is there a limited number of tries to this trick?

I think there is a limit per day, you could try TTing a day forward?

That might be the case, since I just keep my 3DS open while I work.
