Stupid turnips!

Umm, it’s a mechanic of the game since long ago. It’s half your own fault to be so greedy. I would never buy that 1m turnip if I’m not sure, I can sell them online. If you love that slow pacing progress you mention, why you’re upsetting so much? You can save up to 1m for a week easily.
No, you can't save up to 1m/week easily, unless you're playing for hours on end everyday doing nothing but fishing, catching bugs and harvesting fruits and selling they as fast as you can so you can resume your money making activities.

With the nerf to the spawn rates of some of the lucrative bugs, and the drastic reduction in interest at the end of the month, making bells became such as slow process that it kinda resembles ACGC, which wouldn't be a bad thing if it wasn't for the fact that in NH we have higher prices for items, a lot more things to buy and spend our money into.

I get that they want to slow down the gameplay, but it clearly is just a ploy to make people pay for the NSO subscription and use the stalk market.

What about selling fruit? What about just collecting and selling materials? What about turning those materials into DIYs for bigger cash? What about hot ticket items? What about money trees? What about fishing? What about saving the highest-earning fish or bugs to sell to Flick or CJ? What about finding random furniture items that fall out of trees and selling them? Shaking the bells out of trees?

I can make about 100k+ a day if I really wanted to just earn bells. Right now, without trying very hard, I normally make about 50k with just average playtime. There are more ways to earn a good amount of bells than just catching bugs or butterflies.

I guess the question is: how much money are you looking to earn about of your average playtime?

I don't enjoy doing those things. It feel grindy and grinding the opposite of fun for me. I do money tree, money rock, and etc... but I don't like shaking trees and picking up fruits since I have over 100 non-native fruit trees in my island and they are all clutter up so I only pick fruits by circling the tree since I can't even see most of the fruits.

I like collecting materials, extra fossils, and etc... I don't like selling these things.

All I know is yesterday I only spend a total of 2 hours in game (by far my lowest since release).

To be perfectly honest, if you have over 100 non-native fruit trees on your island, you should be making good money on harvest days. I'm sorry that you've restricted your gameplay so much or only find catching butterflies fun. I could see getting frustrated if I only let myself catch beetles or something.

I hope you find something that works for you.

There is a website that there that has been amazing at predicting turnip prices. https://stalks.io/

There's always a small chance you'll lose some money, but you'll never lose so much that you can't recover. It can predict when the prices are bound to only get worse, and it will advise to to sell now.
Second this. That site is AMAZING and has been very accurate the past two weeks I've been using it.

This is why, since ACGC and NL, I've been using fruits as my main source of income. Even with NL's easier access to the stalk market, fruits were still the safer option.

Catching rare spawn butterflies should also be "grindy", just like catching rare fish. The butterfly spawn rate was broken. Yes, it's hard when that was how you were making bells, but it shouldn't have ever been that lucrative. They're fixing something that was broken.

As a personal recommendation, always leave a certain amount of money in the bank. That way, if you do tank on turnips one week, you're not starting from scratch the next week. I'd rather make slightly less of a profit, but be able to recover the next week if things go wrong.

I"m more frustrated with my playtime being cut then just the loss of bells. I just finish picking up all the fruits. What a grind. It not bad if my trees were line up like an orchard.

This is definitely the opposite of fun for me. But even then, I'm done for today. There is nothing left for today. Another very short day.

If that was the case, then they would fix the broken stalk market because butterflies farming is no where close to the amount you make from the online stalk market. They are doing this like Raz say to force people to get online membership and nothing more. Like I said before, its all a cashgrab.

How is the stalk market broken? AC is a "social" game. I mean, you HAVE to trade with others to get all the fruit. Online play is a big part of how the game works, and that includes turnips.

You don't enjoy fishing for whatever reason, but if you got almost all barreleyes instead of horse mackerels, you'd probably enjoy it more. I feel like you liked butterflies because they were easy to catch. You are now going to have to spend more time to make the bells, which you don't like. You said you put in less hours than you normally play, so the only thing I can think of is that it's no longer easy, so you don't enjoy it. But rare spawn anything shouldn't be an "easy" farm without any particular effort.

Just to let you know OP, if you have a decreasing pattern, then you actually have a very high chance of either the small or large spike pattern the next week. I know you were salty this time, but just something to keep in mind for the future.

Personally, I only buy an inventory full of turnips every Sunday (if the buy price is low) just for this reason. I’d rather lose 360k worth of turnips than a million. Sorry for your loss.

Adding onto that, here are the rates for next week. You're 50% likely to get a random (roller-coaster) pattern, so play it safe this upcoming week. And use the predictor I mentioned earlier so you don't end up waiting too long to sell.

A lot of people have been reporting on different forums that now if they TT backwards at all, even by an hour on the same day, it will change their turnip prices. Maybe this will help calm or bring more balance to online turnip sales since people can’t stay on the same in game day for longer than they’re supposed to? (Not judging anyone who does tho- I’d still sell you my turnips lol 👏)

Yeah, I average about $50k-$100k earned on weekdays with more on weekends because I have more time to play. My fruit all comes ripe on the same day so those days are always big money (I have 6 of each non-native fruit tree), and I go on 1-3 tours a day on weekdays. If one of those is the island with all the non-native fruit trees (peaches are my native and cherries are my island fruit) I usually make more. But I have no problem buying one of every item in in every color in the Able Sister's, buying from visiting vendors, buying new items in Nook's Cranny, and ordering catalog items, throwing some money at my loan and any bridges/inclines under construction, and logging out with 40-50k bells in my pockets. (Except the crown, yesterday, I couldn't afford that.) No, I can't fund a bridge the same day I build it, but so what if it takes a few days longer? I got plenty of time.

FTR I only dabble in the stock market. I buy maybe 5 bunches of turnips and haven't been seeking out high-bell islands but I still generally come out ahead. If I get a decreasing pattern I'll go to another island but I'm not scouring trying to find high bell islands every week.

I lost 500,000 on my turnips this week, mostly because I didn't feel like search out for a town selling at around 250~. It's just one of the risks you gotta take.

Do you buy this week in hopes of a good stalk market pattern or do you bail out for the week and don't purchase any, only to see your prices are insane that same week.

A friend asked to come over last night so he could sell fruit. He sold 184 apples for 92,000 bells in my peach-town. It adds up fast--that's roughly 62 trees so someone with over 100 non-native fruit trees in their town should be rolling in bells Scrooge McDuck style.

Interesting cause I use that site a week before and it was not accurate. It told me to sold when it wasn't even my highest spike. The site I use is turnip profit also datamine by ninji (trust him more than Nintendo) and it very accurate. That why I saw I had a good chance to make a profit since I had a 13 out of 14 chance to make med to high profit base on all the remaining outcome.

The fact that I had a 7% chance to lose money and a 93% chance to make money is very frustrating. Odds were in my favor but yet I got the one outcome I didn't want.

Oh I see they updated that site then, I think it still a work in progress. Well considering I don't have butterflies farming, I won't be able to buy turnips for a very long time.

I'm just glad I manage to get my basement before this nerf. Any new player who just started, I feel so bad for you! Especially if you are a solo player like myself.

I'm also quite upset about what they did to butterflies. I make most of my bells from other things (e.g. the stalk market, non-native fruit orchards), but I have a ton of flowers right next to my Nook's and would always spend a little time every day catching as many as I could and selling for tons of bells. I can see no reason why this benefited players. It doesn't even make sense when their whole agenda is to force people to buy Nintendo online, since going to a friend's island isn't going to net you more butterflies.
