This is more of my anxiety and foolishness but I always hit A to early because Im used to fish biting after 3 nibbles (I think this was in NL or PC but I cant remember)! I get anxiety so often that I have to close my eyes and wait for the bloop sound that the fish do when they grab on.. I still have not caught 100 fish without missing :c I will soon Nook Miles I promise!
I have played AC since WW and didn't realise when fishing that you only had to tap A once (after the plop) to reel it in. I have been mashing the A button.. for sooo long T_T
Ate some fruits and broke a lot of my rocks when I first started, had like one and was struggling a lot to gather the 30 iron nuggets for Nook's cranny lol
Okay, this is embarrassing (and hopefully I'm not alone), but I thought the rocks always broke whenever you hit them with a shovel. It took me a few days before I realized that it was only because I was always making sure I had eaten as many fruit as possible. It took so many hours to earn the 30 nuggets for the store, but for other reasons it worked out fine because I restarted. Still, I felt so embarrassed.
Also, I couldn't figure out how to buy items in the shop... For whatever reason it never crossed my mind to open up the cabinet. I thought it was just a decoration. I had to ask for help here and when it was explained I felt so stupid!
EDIT: Just as a I posted this I read @aria2232's post above mine and realized it's the same, so I feel a lot better.
I didn't know it was possible to build a fourth layer in terraforming until very recently. It's not terribly useful, but it added a nice mountain-y feel to my island
Not hunting for villagers I wanted in the first 3 plots since I didn’t know they worked the way they did. Was only able to find Audie then completed all the required DIYs for the plots so I had two random move ins and one of them had to be Al.
In the gamecube game, I didn't realize the fish would take 1-5 nibbles to actually bite the lure. I kept pressing A as soon as the fish touched it. Fishing was so much easier after realizing this
The Worst is my Island name, after working so much on my island and having most of the villagers I wanted I realized I really really want to change my island name but I can't
