I decided to restart my town since my favorite villagers moved out without notice and I felt like I didn't accomplish anything on my own there (I got Bells through a BTB trade and could buy anything no trouble...)

So I have restarted and decided to make a little story out of it. I hope you enjoy it. Don't feel obliged to read or comment, this is just something fun I decided to do.

--------------------------------

Day 1 - Part A

While I look outside the trainwindow I sigh. My hamster Jazz looks up at me from inside his cage that stands next to me on the couch. My mother told me to go on a trip, see new places and have a fun time. I just finished university and was about to go on a holiday when my best friend cancelled it due to illness. It was all understandable, but I had been looking forward to it.
So instead of seeing me moping at home, my mom let me pack my bags, bought a ticket and brought me to the train station. ?I heard there is a good inn at a town named Remaerd,? she had said. ?It has a large beach and the weather is amazing there in this time of the year. We?ve been there before, but you were very small at that time. I?m sure you?ll like it there. An old friend of mine said she was also going to live there soon. You will get along well. Now, here?s your bag and your hamster. Get on that train and go have fun for a few weeks. Bye bye, sweetheart, I love you!?
And with that she pushed me on the train and waved me goodbye. So here I am, with Jazz on a train, going to an unfamiliar place where I don?t even want to go.

From the corner of my eye I see a humanoid cat looking at me. It?s nothing uncommon. In this world, there are humans and humanoid animals. It has always been this way and there is nothing particularly different between them, except that some of them have tails or hooves instead of hands. Even the train?s driver is a monkey. But this blue cat is staring quite intensely now and it?s making me feel uneasy.
He gets up and asks me about the time. I quickly check the time on my cellphone and tell the cat his watch is correct. He thanks me and then sits himself in front of me. We exchange names and he tells me that ?Melyora? is a great name. I tell him I am on my way to Remaerd, a town he says he isn?t familiar with. Rover pulls out a few maps and asks me which town it is. I?ve only quickly scanned the map my mother showed my on the computer at home and I try to recall which map belongs to Remaerd.
When he pulls out the second map, the buildings? locations seem familiar to me. A large lake in the middle of town, with the Town Hall and Retail shop on either side, and the Plaza right below the lake. This was the map that my mother had shown me.

Then Rover asks me if I go to Remaerd very often. I tell him that I don?t remember, since I was very small. He seems surprised and ask what I am going there for. ?I don?t know,? I reply, because in all honesty, I don?t know why I am on this train. Rover says that I seem like the type to do what I feel like, which is true, but not in this case. He jokes and says: ?What if you suddenly felt like maybe settling down in Remaerd? Man, wouldn?t that be something?!? Although I am not sure about it, I feel like a change of pace is just what I need, so I tell him that I?ll see how it goes and let fate decide. Rover continues joking: ?So if something is guiding you to this place, what awaits you there? It?s kind of exciting to think about it!? He laughs and wishes me well, while continuing his happy conversation. His enthusiasm gets to me and I am somewhat looking a bit more forward to going to Remaerd. We arrive at Remaerd and we bid each other goodbye.
At that moment, I might have stayed on the train if I knew how true Rover?s predictions turned out to be.

When I exit the train station I am surrounded by four animals who start whispering as soon as they see me. A yellow cat with a leaf on her head, a big ox who scares me a bit and a pink horse with a dotted shirt.
HNI_0070.JPG
The fourth, a blond dog with bells on her head, calls them to order and the shout a huge ?WELCOME? at me. I am startled, and even more so when the dog start to welcome me as the mayor. I try to explain that they must be confused. Then the blond dog states that I?ve said that I would arrive on this train, which I quickly deny. She continues to presume I am the mayor while I desperately try to explain I am just here for a holiday, but she assumes I am joking. She offers me a town map, which I accept, dumbfounded by the incident.
HNI_0071.JPG

The blond dog asks me to walk with her to the Town Hall. I give up resisting and walk with her, the bells on her head jingling as we go. When we arrive she introduces herself as Isabelle and that she is my secretary. She says that even though I am younger than she expected, she hopes that I can bring a breath of fresh air to ?our town?. She appoints me my first task as mayor, and that is to become a resident of the town.
I see no way to refuse and for now, I will play along. She is jokingly trying to register my residency until she scares me with a scary face and tells me that I need a house to register as a resident.
HNI_0074.JPG
I am not quite sure about the capability of ?my secretary?. Ah well, she apologizes for her stupidity and sends me on my way to Nook?s Homes, the local house-builder. I leave Jazz and my belongings at the Town Hall. I am on my way to Main Street, while I run across some of the local villagers. The pink horse that greeted me earlier is called Peaches. She seems a bit like the confused but very kind type. The brown ox is called Angus. Upon talking to him, he seems less intimidating and welcomes me friendly to town.

When I arrive at Nook?s Homes, the owner, Tom Nook, seems also aware that I am the new mayor. He tells me he wants to help build my house. ?So have you decided on where you want to live?? he asks. ?Not yet,? I tell him, since I haven?t had time to walk around yet. ?Color me unsurprised! You DID just move here, after all, and there?s no sense rushing into anything!? It seems he understands my position at least a bit. Tom offers to walk with me while I search for a suitable place for a house.
It takes a while, because I realize that building a house is a serious deal. If I stay in Remaerd, this will become my permanent home. We come across Angus, and he also advices me to think it through. He even offers me to come live next to him.

But eventually I find a perfect place, with enough room for gardening and a few ponds closeby, which I really like. Angus keeps a watchful eye while Tom Nook reserves the space for me. I am however a bit worried where I am going to sleep, but Tom offers me a tent. His enthusiasm makes me feel a bit less anxious about this whole ordeal of becoming the mayor and becoming a resident of Remaerd.

I return to Town Hall and Isabelle asks me if I found the perfect spot to call home. The spot is perfect, but I am still a bit worried. ?Not knowing how much the house will cost is unsettling? And you?re currently staying in a tent as well?? Isabelle asks. She feels for me and assures me that I?ll feel better once I move into my nice, new home. I hope so. I only took some small change with me, as this was supposed to be a holiday. I am not sure I can really afford a house...
Together with Isabelle I finalize my resident registration and she hands me a Town Pass Card, or TPC for short. When I think I can finally rest, Isabelle says: ?The last thing we?d like you to participate in is a ceremony that commemorates your arrival,? and she directs me to the Event Plaza. ?We?d like for you to plant a tree in the square so it can become a great symbol for our town!?

At the Event Plaza, all the villagers have gathered to see me plant the new Tree. I feel strangely elated and honoured, that I am allowed to do this task. Under great applause and Isabelle?s encouragements I plant the sapling. Maybe becoming the Mayor isn?t such a bad thing to happen to me.

Thank you for sharing! I hope that you'll consider writing and sharing more to this story - you write very well, and I like the use of the first-person point of view.

It was great to step into your character's shoes, so to speak, and see how they felt as their new life began. Very cute!

Very nice town layout, and cute villagers! Say hello to queenie from me :) i miss her </3

I wish I had thought of doing this when I first started this game. ^.^ I'm considering starting to write short chapters about life in my town. As I had mentioned in one of my blog posts, the only game that I've gotten so absorbed playing that I felt like I was in my own character's shoes; sometimes--before or after a playthrough, I would choose a personality for my character, attitude, and other things you'd find in character profiles and as my character, I'd think about her reasons and feelings about the choices she made and the situation she was in. I tried something different a few weeks ago on my birthday, after playing Animal Crossing (the first time I did it on my birthday); on tumblr I wrote a short "chapter" on what my character's birthday was like (I re-posted it on my blog on these forums). I thought that was kind of fun and that's why I'm now considering to write about my town in a story format. :P

Anyways, I really like what you've written; it's a very creative way of adding a little more to your experience while playing the game. :) Having visuals with your story is also a plus. :) Are you planning on writing this story every day? Either way, I look forward to seeing more if you plan on it :).

Hey guys!

Thanks for the many positive feedbacks! <3 I have been busy yesterday and played only a little, but I've put together the rest of Day 1 and will work shortly on day 2, before starting up on my Day 3 XD

----------------

Day 1 - Part B

Isabelle tells me to take the rest of the day off to explore and meet all the villagers. I meet Tangy, the yellow-with-leaf cat I saw at the train station. I meet Clyde in his house and he seems rather fond of food, as his whole house in covered in it. Then I go to Queenie?s house. Although she looks a bit cross at first, but all the same she welcomes me friendly as the new mayor.
I look some more around town and discover some cherries on a tree. This whole arcade of events has gotten me quite hungry so I shake a tree and eat the few cherries that drop down. I also find a strange-looking cherry and I remember my mom saying they are rare and can be planted to grow even more, for they have a better taste than normal cherries. There's quite a market for them. I might plant it later.
HNI_0094.JPGHNI_0095.JPG

I visit Main Street and discover the Nookling Junction, a small store. I see a rod and shovel for shall and reach for my wallet, but it is gone! I panic, but Tommy Nook, the shopkeeper calms me down. I might have lost it on the train. Which is quite likely. I am too clumsy and forgetting for my own good. It?s not the first time it has happened.
I walk off and go to Nook?s Homes, wondering however I am going to pay for my house...
Upon entering, Tom Nook happily tells me that the down payment is ?nothing more than a paltry 10,000 Bells.? ?I can?t afford that!? I tell him. He tells I can earn money through the crops and other resources of town, such as fruit and seashells. The recycling shop, Retail, will buy them for some ?quick cash?. Then off I go.

I shake some trees for cherries and collect them in my pockets. I accidentally shake a tree with no fruits on it, but some cash fell out! 100 Bells, I can certainly make use of that! Inspired by this incident, I shake more trees without fruits. And then a piece of furniture falls out, I can barely jump out of the way! It is a lazy-Susan table. I don?t know what it is, but it?s sure to give me some money, right? I continue shaking trees until I uncover a beehive and get terribly stung. Okay, maybe this wasn?t such a good idea after all... But I am not one to give up so easily and I continue collecting goods.
HNI_0096.JPGHNI_0097.JPG

So a lot of shakes and 4 more beestings later I go to the Retail. I see another raccoon that looks exactly like Tommy I met before, but the shop-owner Reese calls this one Timmy. Strange. I talk to Reese, a pink alpaca and she explains me how Retail works. From everything I collected I get 6,800 Bells! I am amazed and very pleased. Reese seemed like a kind and happy resident, but I like her even more now! I see she has a bed and wardrobe for sale, which I buy. I need somewhere to rest my head tonight.
HNI_0098.JPG
Together with Reese we tow my new furniture to my tent-house. After she says her goodbye I enter my ?home? to put away my new things. I haven?t entered my home when I see Isabelle walking towards me. She has a lantern for in my new home, so at least I have some light. I thank her kindly and she tells me I should come to Town Hall so she can tell me what I can do around here. Then she leaves, waving as she goes. Despite her flakiness, she is very thoughtful and I find myself liking her.

Now that my tent is comfortable enough, I head back to Main Street to get myself some equipment to catch some fish and insects. Tom Nook told me these would also sell quite well. After that I head to Town Hall and talk a lot with Isabelle. She tells me about the town and how to make the best out of it. To become friends with the villagers, I should write them letters, for they enjoy reading and writing them. That doesn?t sound too bad, for I like writing as well. Sometimes it is easier to say something on paper than face-to-face. Isabelle also explains to me how fish and bug catching works and how to find fossils. I am quite curious to try it all out! She gives me a net for catching bugs, for I already have a rod and shovel. Isabelle comments on how great the beach is and that we should walk together, before startled realizing that she cannot leave the Town Hall. I feel bad for her and rush off to find her some seashells.
As I stroll along the beach, my eye catches a glimmer. I bend down and pick up a shiny, white cowrie shell. I hold it to my ear and I can hear the sea. It makes me smile, to find such a present for Isabelle. I head back and she is surprised and pleased to get a seashell. As a thank-you present she gives me a watering can, so I can water the flowers around town. We laugh a bit and I say my goodbyes. It is getting later in the day and I still want to quickly meet everybody. First I take my suitcase and Jazz to my house, making sure Jazz is settled properly, before I go around to meet the other residents.
Even though the role got pushed upon me, it seems only right to greet everyone on my first day of mayor.

The other residents in town are Clyde, a horse that seems rather fond of food, as his house is covered in food-related furniture, and Queenie, an ostrich that seems kind but a bit snobby, my kind of girl.
HNI_0091.JPGHNI_0092.JPGI also head for the museum to meet Blathers. He is asleep when I arrive. I decide not to disturb him and head into the galleries, only to find there is nothing to see. I go back to the main entrance, but Blathers is still asleep. After doubting, I decide to wake him. He startles awake and apologizes for sleeping. I think it's very understandable, with him being an owl. He immediately recognizes me as the new mayor and explains what the museum is about. Embarrassed, he admits that the museum is quite empty and asks me if I would help fill it up. I agree, though I tell him I am not sure if I can fit it with my other tasks that Isabelle might put on me as the mayor. Blather laughs and assures me not to worry, and that every donation the museum can get is one they're grateful for.
HNI_0001.JPGHNI_0002.JPGHNI_0003.JPGHNI_0004.JPG

After all this I feel rather tired, so I head back to my tent-house, where Jazz is waiting for me. ?What a strange turn for our daily lives, isn?t it, Jazz?? I ask him. ?We were just coming here for a holiday and now we?re going to live here. Everyone seems kind, it?s making me feel like this is not a bad thing, to have come here. Well, goodnight Jazz.?
I turn off the lantern, go to bed and fall asleep.
